المستخلص: Early childhood is a crucial stage of life in terms of a child physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. Growth of mental and physical abilities progresses at an astounding rate from birth to age six composing 50% of the intelligence of the child at this stage.. The progress of nations and communities is measured by the extent of their interest in the world of childhood and the development of the educational system in line with the developments and requirements of the times. So it is the responsibility of the community to focus on children and support their growth and development as they reflect the image representing the community in the future. The importance of the establishment of nurseries and kindergartens is represented in providing generous purposeful environment for children in the first years of age to help the continuity of growth and integration of mental, emotional, sensory and kinetic abilities.. The absence of a theoretical framework that integrates contemporary educational and architectural trends for the child's architecture reaching general strategies, constitutes the main research problem. This problem arises from the lack of a knowledge in the field of architecture in providing theoretical frameworks for designing solutions for the architecture of children (as a result of literature concentration on fragmented and separate attributes), as well as the absence of a dialectic and reasonable interrelation between architectural theories and child's educational and psychological theories.. In light of the research problem, the aim of the present research is determined at the establishment of a theoretical framework that integrates educational and contemporary architectural trends for building the general strategies and deriving the designing solutions for the the friendly - child architecture. This requires the building of the theoretical framework , and then applying the framework to selected architectural environments in order to draw the bases and mechanisms of designing of the architecture of the child. In light of this, the structure of the research includes five chapters : Chapter One is allocated to demonstrate the importance of the role of nurseries and kindergartens in the development and growth of the child and within two axes : one focuses on the architectural and educational history of nurseries and kindergartens on a global level. The second axis deals with the history of nurseries and kindergartens at the local level. The intake Chapter Two the psychology of play and intellectual approaches & their reflection on the requirements of the child's environment within the two axes. The first axis Includes growth and development of the child and the psychology of play. Either second axis deals with intellectual approaches and it's reflected on the child's environment includes the intellectual approach of Pedagogy and intellectual architectural appraoches down to build four general concepts common to reflect the desired characteristics of the child's environment - including the external environment and internal environment - represented by (learning environment by doing, simulation, workshops and laboratories / rich exciting environment, working as a third teacher for child / sustainable environment - health, economic and social / Home - Like environment of psychological and physicist safety).Chapter Three deals with extracting the main strategies in the child's environment (external and internal) and the resulting indicators reaching to the final theoretical framework. Chapter Four aims to apply the theoretical framework and the resulted strategies on selected architectural environments (nurseries and kindergartens).Chapter Five presents the final conclusions and future recommendations. The results of the research in both its theoretical and practical aspects led to clear mechanism to achieve a child - friendly environment that supports the growth and development of the child and meets his physiological, ,psychological , mental and emotional needs. This mechanism enables the designer to innovate convenient solutions to attain a friendly child architecture.

المستخلص: يتناول البحث موضوعا مهما وهو التتابع التاريخي للطرز العمرانية العراقية ضمن فترة منتخبة , تم اختيارها وفق اسباب واهداف محددة , يشق البحث طريقه ببناء اطار نظري يعزز قاعدته البحثية والسببية مستدلا منها على المشكلة البحثية مؤسسا بذلك لهدف واضح مهم ومن هذا الم | This research deals with an important subject which is the Historical Succession of Iraqi architectural styles, within a selected period of time. It is is concentrated on establishing a theoretical framework in order to enhance the research and causality base, relying on the problem of the research, which focusses on the un clarity of the architectural styles of this important period.The research moves to explain the most important points and concepts.Starting by analyzing the previous studies which give us a classifies the research in the Succession of the styles for the period that the thesis have chosen, (The Abbasied period and the invasion of Al - Mongols and Othman ) since (280A.D to 1336 A.D).This leads the search to a main goal which is, to discover what is the commons and different and highlighted the effect of each one one the other. In the second part of the first chapter , it highlights the theoretical framework on the most important previous studies that dealt with the history and styles to know the ways that did not deal with the subject of the similar history as well as the most important methods that can be used as means to bring out such research , it also focus on the very clear knowledge gap that is represented as the basic problem of the research. "That the method of Succession could fill the gap of the concept for the study of styles within the different eras".The second chapter starts with a try to understanding the concept of styles and the path that is pursued through time and the changes which happened in its concepts. Assuming that the "Succession "could be a great tool to Investigates the styles for the periods that took place in our research. So, it has been the definition for the essence of the Succession and its potentials in finding architectural styles facts. Third chapter , is concerned with determinating the selected period of the study and the reasons for selecting , this period is characterized with "The late Abbasid which synchronize the Covenant Seljuk and Al - buehi in addition to the occupations of the Mughal and Ottoman".As the research deals with both of the analytical method and the comparative method in analyzing the historical periods with a choice of study samples (install location) with tracking these places across the time. So, the search in analyzing the style must depend and take more specialized direction for the purpose of diagnosing of formalism and precision ties to study the properties of the shape and the key elements of each historical era with the study of the elements of architectural profile in addition to the properties of architectural styles.this third chapter and the fourth chapter are based together on the analysis of examples of indicators that have been inferred in the second quarter for the conclusion of what is continued of styles and what is based on n demonstrating the impact of each one of them for what followed.

Urban environment in general and in Iraq specially is in a state of visual chaos as a result of regulatory confusion for urban infrastructure and its general properties. This chaos is a result of fast growth that happened to the humanity in its modern and late period which made several changes on population and urban environments, and began to leave damage in urban prevailing environment specially that which has effect on human psychological and behavioral effects.The lack of clarity in scientific methodology and realism treatment in reducing the phenomenon of visual pollution in addition to relative negligence in specialized local studies to cover the whole picture in search the impact this phenomenon on one of the most important components of the urban environment, they are users as an individuals and groups, that formed the main research problem in its entirety. The problem caused in (Lack of accurate knowledge about the effects of visual pollution in the local contemporary urban environment on psychological and behavioral status to its users and lack of clarity the processors process to remedy the resulting fallout). So, set the objective of public research (An attempt to reveal the phenomenon that forms the difference of psychological and behavioral effects in the local contemporary urban environment and find causes and mechanisms to deal with them).In order to achieve the mentioned objective, the research set two hypotheses, the first (The visual pollution in the contemporary urban environment is the complex effective process for the dynamic activity depends on the psychophysical to interpret the effect of this activity on deteriorating of psychological and behavioral of recipients, and this deteriorating controlled by positive correlation with the increase this effect which could remedy the resulting implications through visual and aesthetic treatment.). The second (The happened defectiveness from the impact of visual pollution can be reform it through vocabulary of visual integration for elements of architectural design, formal relations, physical attributes and vocabulary of visual integration for aesthetic requirement).Thus, the theoretical and practical framework of the research was built according to the sequence contained in structure of the following : (First Chapter) : Provide the base information for the research in achieving the conceptions associated with the urban environment, its components, psychological, behavioral concepts and visual pollution concepts. (Second Chapter) : Visual pollution and limits of its impact on the urban environment , mechanism of influence between the recipient and the environment and mechanism of solving problems. (Third Chapter) : Derive indicators on which the aspects of visual pollution depends, and its mechanism in urban environment represented by (effect, affected and reformation of defectiveness). (The fourth Chapter) : Dealt with practical study represented by the application of learned indicators from the third chapter in Al jaza'er district in Basrah … to discover manifestations of visual pollution and determine the remedy mechanism of a problem, from this we can test the extent of credibility of the research hypothesis and achieve its objectives.The research results have produced a set on the theoretically and practically exploration the visual defectiveness clear by the presence or get the phenomenon of visual pollution, and its impact on the psychological and behavioral situation for users of the urban environment, It was show this defectiveness through the construction of the structure is based on the concept of an all - inclusive for all factors of effect, affected and reformation of defectiveness. As possible to reach a psychological and behavioral faltering for persons on the visual and aesthetic level have a direct correlation to the phenomenon of visual pollution in the local contemporary urban environment So, the Search put two parallel directions for dealing with the reality of this phenomenon and its faltering, the first represents as a preventive procedures to avoid this phenomenon or its limit, while the second represents as a remedy procedures within the strategy that has been put forward to reform of the current visual defectiveness as well as in the future through the application of the vocabulary of visual defectiveness reform in the local urban environment and adoption of these measures as a manual guide for application it on the joints of the subsequent urban development and other local environment.

And to solve this problem , in order to achieve the research objectives , it was assumed ((That the Iraqi field sites are only field sites and productive wells , and developed it into field cities depend on creating an integrated service and industrial structure related Origins based on a set of Substrata and standards of planning and design)) , It also the Research pursues Descriptive Methodology and Comparative Analytical mainly based on the study of global and regional experiences , in order to reach the potential of the use of standards, concepts and modern global substrata that used in the oil industrial field sites , and which established the origins of planning and design worked to develops it into field cities, According to this Research Methodology , the overall structure of the search are build, This structure present in an introduction and five chapters , Chapter One titled ( The General Conceptual Frame of the field city ), this chapter presents the most important and the most prominent urban concepts of the field city, and the industry, which represents the most important economic foundations, this paving for the Chapter Two entitled (The Urban Ideologies and Cornerstones of the planning and design of the field city), where is the study of global and regional experiences of field cities, analysis, and knowledge of the its entire structure, Then extract the most important ideologies and cornerstones of planning and design that based to substrata and standards for the planning and design of these field cities, Emerges from Chapter Three, who studying (The substrata of Planning and design for the field city structure) that underpin the integrated structure of the field city , This chapter represents the applied practical basis of the research , It is the link between the statement of the knowledge of the field city in the previous two chapters and the subsequent applied Chapter , to end up with extracting the most important substrata of planning and design for the field city, to be the reference upon which to build the practical side of research , that represent the ruler measurement for Chapter Four titled (The process study to test the extent to which the integrated structure of the field cities in Iraq) , where detailed analytical study of the two Iraqis field locations are elected from different places , to test the extent to which the integrated structure that requires for Iraqi field city in field sites. As a result of this test , the research finds that the Iraqi field sites are only productive field sites, with twice as large and clear to realize the origins and the substrata for the field city with an integrated structure, despite what the test shows the presence of many of the basic ingredients in some Iraqi field locations, Which can be developed towards create a field city in it, so the research put some solutions and proposals, In an attempt to fill the weaknesses or deficiencies that are diagnosed in the results of this test ( Down to the Fifth Chapter in the final Conclusions and Recommendations of the Research.

It takes its title and nature from the characters by witch it is endowed. Sometimes it is a tourist city, historical city, and a religious city. And its consistency with the need of times make it a living city ,but those needs change day by day and what has worked yesterday might not be as successful today. And leaving our cities without care, and regardless of the emerging requirements of changes, makes cities suffer. So if we do not rush to rescue them with the needed care and attention, it will eventually lose part of its identity This is the case in some of our cities, with the neglected and retarded services and the new demands of the current times that reshaped these cities. The needs of those cities have grown, especially in those cities with historical dimensions. This caused many problems through many different eras. These problems grew in complexity affecting those cities fundamentally and outwardly. There are neglected cities and some else that have changed their shapes, others are not in synchrony with their times ,this demands our efforts to maintain these cities and to develop them to response to the needs of the times. The targets of this research were to identify themes and basic indicators which can be relied upon in the rehabilitation and development of the city "Al - Hai" in Wasit, according to the researchs problem has been identified as "an inclarity of the themes and basic indicators adopted in rehabilitation and development projects of the urban fabric of "Al - Hai" in Wasit. So we have studied and analyzed some of the successful examples of different cities, both developing and rehabilitation of local,Arabic and international cities. المستخلص: Recently there have been an obvious trend for paying attention to the natural environment , with a goal to minimize the consumption of the natural resources and to decrease the pollutants released into the environment. The focus has been based on the urban sector which is the predominant sector with regards to energy consummation and , as a result the concepts of sustainable architecture became an essential part of the new architectural projects. These concepts conjures environmental and economic challenges and faced it efficiently and effectively through the sustainable planning, designing and the implementation of building methods with advanced technologies which has the impact of reducing the negative effects on the environment, and producing efficient and effective buildings.The school buildings are the most common buildings in the world since they provide the educational services to a large section of the society , and their occupants are numerous , and are characterised with a large hours of working days. There is consumption of large amounts of energy and resources in order to provide comfortable indoor environment to the occupants, so there have been obvious trend to the enforcement of sustainable architecture concepts in school buildings because of their obvious influence on the behaviour of occupants and the local community as a whole. This trend provides support to the learning processes, as well as minimizes the consumption of natural resources, which contributes to the creation of a high - performance learning environment.As such , The general problem may be considered as the lack of knowledge about the role of sustainability and its importance in the design of educational school buildings ,and the potential for sustainable schools to use the renewable energy sources in its sustainable environmental design. The special problem is the lack of knowledge about the planning strategies of the sustainable schools and the mechanisms to be used in the planning and designing process of the sustainable outdoor spaces , the lack of knowledge about the designing strategies and the technical strategies of the sustainable schools and the implementation mechanisms to use renewable energy sources. The goal of the research is to build a knowledge base about the importance of sustainability in school buildings including the immediate and future benefits, and the techniques and strategies of sustainable schools to provide a comfortable learning environment considering the hot dry climate, the techniques and strategies used in the sustainable renovation of school traditional buildings for developing these buildings in a sustainable way , defining the alternatives and the most appropriate technical mechanisms (operating, maintenance) and their suitability for a hot dry climate, comparison between the alternatives and the technological methods that could be employed in order to create a sustainable Iraqi school which is environmentally efficient and effective based on combining the passive and active methods.The research is based on the general hypothesis achieving sustainable concepts in architecture of school buildings through the integration of planning and design operations depending on the active and passive systems and their integration with the building within the hot dry climate , Secondary hypotheses availability of planning and designing determinants of the school buildings , and the potential for the sustainable operation and the positive interaction with the environment residentially , visually and operationally, taking into account future developments and the integration of external and internal educational spaces that achieved effective school building.The research includes five chapters, chapter one first topic addresses the role of school buildings and the different educational systems and the impact of the school building on students, teachers and society performance, the second topic addresses the role of sustainability in school buildings and their benefits and characteristics and impact on the educational process as a whole , chapter two first topic addresses the sustainable planning stages for school building and clarify the standards of sustainable planning for schools, the second topic addresses the importance of sustainability in the exterior school spaces and its properties , characteristics , benefits and its impact on the educational process, chapter three first topic addresses the considerations of sustainable school design and the internal environment quality standards of the sustainable school buildings and how to use the renewable energies in those buildings, the second topic addresses the importance of sustainable school buildings renovations and stages of sustainable renovation , third topic draw a conclusion of the theoretical framework indicators , chapter four application of the theoretical indicators on five selected projects in order to applied the reliable common on the local projects , chapter five comes out with a set of conclusions and recommendation that serve the Hypotheses of the research.

المستخلص: اسهمت التطو ا رت الفنية وانتاج المواد البنائية الحديثة وتقنيات استخدامها بتحرير الفضاءات الداخلية للمباني التي انتجت مساحات واسعة واعمدة رشيقة, فضلا عن الانفتاح الى الخارج لادماج البيئتين الداخلية والخارجية للمبنى.منذ منتصف القرن العشرين اتضح دور المواد | Technical developments, along with the production of modern building materials and techniques, contributed inediting the internal building spaces, mainly by creating large areas and graceful columns, as well as opening towardsthe outside, to allow integration and merging of both internal and external building environments.Since the mid - twentieth century, the role of modern building material became clear in everything pertaining tointernal structure and its external layering, as well as the design of internal spaces. of course, it was a clear rupturewith the spatial aspect of more traditional local architecture.Now, despite the worldwide rapid improvement in building materials, we still locally lack the knowledge and expertise. Also, thorough studies in the field of material properties, their specifications and inherent technologies, as well as their practical applications, are scarce.Based on these findings, the problematic of this study could be expressed as follow : there’s currently a lack of appropriate directed studies in the field of new construction materials, their use and their integration in architectural vision, based on a sustainable view, as well as the use of contemporary technology.So it has been developing a specific content target : 1 - The provision of general frameworks to solve the problems and challenges faced by the specialists at the use of new building materials.2 - provide a complementary theoretical and practical specifications for new building materials and environmental characteristics, functional and aesthetic effects in sustainable architecture knowledge.In order to address the stated problematic and reach the established goal, one hypothesis have been formulated : To address the problem of the research and achieve its objectives has been the development of research hypothesisas follows : (Technological development of new building materials contributes to draw the path towards sustainable urban environment, as the new and advanced structural materials and techniques used were able to create sustainable architecture achieve environmental, functional and aesthetic requirements) In order to test these hypothesis and assess their veracity, a theoretical framework was established, based on the following methodology steps : - The study of intrinsic relationship between architecture and building materials, starting with mud and stone buildings, then approaching other specific local and temporal architectures such as marshes buildings, the ever‘moving forward’ architectures of the successive industrial revolutions, the modernist movement in the beginning of twentieth century, sustainable architecture, and the new architecture of the third millennium. - The theoretical study of new building materials, their specificity and characteristics in the light of the latest evolution and development of sustainable architecture. The emphasis would be on smart materials and nanoparticles, as well as their potential. - The practical study of these materials and their effects when actually used in construction, while focusing on three aspects : environmental, functional and aesthetic. For that purpose, eight giant buildings which integrated new building materials, located in different environments, and performing different functions, were analyzed. The aim was to finduseful indicators for comparative analysis. - These three aspects (environmental, functional and aesthetic), were applied and studied on modern, local buildings,everyone performing a different function. Questionnaires forms were used, which were distributed to specialists in the field. It appears, after analysis of the answers in regard to the three aforementioned aspects, that the environmental aspect had the most positive impact, immediately followed by the functional aspect, then the aesthetic aspect, which comes last.

المستخلص: يتناول البحث مفردتي الحفاظ والاستثمار في تطوير المدينة التاريخية، لابكونهما متضادين يمثل فيهما الحفاظ حالة سلبية بالابقاء على التراث العمراني بما هو عليه ويمثل الاستثمار حالة الانعتاق عن هذا التراث، وانما بوصفهما مركبي التطوير يمثل الحفاظ فيه عملية ابد | The research discusses conservation and investment not as a contradictory state, but as both of them represent compound of development that conservation acts a creational process through heritage adaptation to fulfill now a day requirements with specific limitations aimed to conserve traditional image of heritage while investment represents a tool of this development.Architectural heritage is considered as a physical record for civilization of nations so, nothing to compensate its loss, from this point of view traditional studies which deal with conservation interest with cultural values, while contemporary studies take economic values as a primary consideration. That means conservation is an economic activity in a wide sense, and an investment project in a specific sense.The nature of the investment role in conservation has been the main concern of this research, and aims to build intellectual framework of investment bases to be valid for development of an Arabian historical city, that has been through the research hypothesis which draws up : " investment managed by reuse heritage buildings and sites which fulfill now a day requirements has an economic feasibility besides realize conservation".To implement the goal of the research it is composed of five chapters. The first one aims to build theoretical intellectual basis for conservation of architectural heritage to determine flow chart of conservation and the success of its components. Chapter two is concerned in building theoretical intellectual basis for investment through determined investments abilities in heritage buildings and sites and economical analysis of these investments. Chapter three involves investment bases by national and regional experiments of investment in heritage to determine the role of sectors interested with conservation of heritage; these main sectors are public, private, foreign, and charities. Chapter four - case study - concerns the abilities of investment in architectural heritage of old town in AL - Kifil city, this heritage includes : AL - Kifil shrine, AL - Nukhaila mosque, old market, and khans. The research ends with a collection of final conclusions, recommendations, beneficiaries, and future proposal researches; which are mentioned in chapter five. The main conclusion that research has been conducted is : Reuse of the architectural heritage in tourist and cultural functions represents the ideal economic procedure for conservation according to its auto - financing attribute, as well as other economic and social benefits for the community arising from conservation.

المستخلص: يتناول البحث اشكالية معرفية عامة طالما طرحت نفسها افتراضا نظريا قائما في مسيرة الفكر الانساني بشكل عام والمعماري منه على وجه الخصوص , الا وهي العلاقة بين العمارة والمجتمع , وفي خضم واقع عراقي معاصر كثيرا ما نسمع عن مشاكله او ازماته وعلى كافة الاصعدة ا | Research deals with a general epistemic issue has always been set as a theoretical assumption in the march of the human thought in general and most notably in the architectural theory, that is the relationship between the architecture and society. And in related to the Iraqi situation, we often hear about its problems on all cultural levels including both social and architectural levels, the research comes as an attempt to retrace the course of the Iraqi architecture within the twentieth century by describing and analyzing the cultural and social changes in Iraq at that century according to the general theoretical frameworks in which the previous assumption is based on. The research consists of four main chapters in addition to the introduction and the conclusions. At its first chapter, the research considers exploring the general theoretical frameworks for the relationship between architecture and society through reviewing a collection of related literatures and theses to mark its problem which represented by " the insufficiency of the available theoretical knowledge for representing inclusive theoretical framework to include the relationship between architecture and society with the special capacity for both concepts ". Therefore the aim of the research determined by making such theoretical framework and then applying it on the path of the Iraqi architecture at the twentieth century trying to extrapolate it socially, in other words " study in the compatible relationship between the path of Iraqi architecture and its changes, and the changes of the Iraqi social reality within the twentieth century ". Based on that, the research on its second chapter considers defining the concept of society and what this concept include of sub concepts and of the interfering concepts most notably culture and personality which they represent in addition to the society three logically distinct actually overlapping patterns for the human social act, which is mostly performed in three general types. This chapter also deals with the concept of the social change and its relevance to the cultural change as a sort of harmonic changes. The third chapter was devoted to explore the indications of the relationship between the architecture and society by assuming the architecture as a social act subjects to three phases which are (the traditional phase, the rational phase including scientific rationality and value rationality and the emotional phase). And as a social phenomenon, it's available socially at four levels as (the physical level, the functional level, the communicational level and the ideological level) showing that each of these levels has its vocabulary and indications in which to measure the mentioned phases of actions. Whilst the fourth chapter contains a description and analysis for the Iraqi cultural and social changes which has been as a base to divide the 20th century historically into three culturally distinctive periods as (the first period 1900 - 1945 and its general feature is the cultural duality between continuing the local traditions and the trend of simulating the other, the second period 1945 - 1980 and its general feature is the rotional conflict of concepts between modernization and keeping heritage as two samples for rationality, and the third period 1980 - 2003 and its general feature is the emotivity of cultural experimentation to restore the lost ego). So that the research marks the three phases of architectural act at these three periods as the following : - 1 - The traditional phase : - represented by the first period and its architectural act which is featured with the duality of the local traditions and the classical traditions.2 - The rational phase : - represented by second period which varies between scientific modernization and heritage valuation as two opposite types for rationality in architecture.3 - The emotional phase : - represented by the architectural act for the third period and what it included of variable architectural experimentation which was mostly flavoured with selectivity and plurality Then the research ends up with a number of conclusions and general recommendations.

The research has aimed to find a mechanism to adapt the methodology of contemporary inputs, as they are considered factors of impact on urban identity , the city's heritage Urban (particularly residential) requirements of modernity down to consistency and balance in the structure and appearance of this urbanization. To accomplish these goals in order to solve the problem, the hypothesis has been put in the research and is represented as follows, ( The main hypothesis : - The traditional urban identity of the Iraqi city it is only the implications of several interaction of combination of factors such as : ideological, religious, cultural, political, social, and economic......, which has : innate presented by the student Rokia Basim Khaza'al durability and deep - rooted heritage). The secondary hypotheses ,they include (The secondary hypothesis (first), Contemporary input into the decisions of urban residential structure which produces the problem of alienation of the identity of the city in general and the identity of the modern urban residential specifically for the Iraqi city. But the Second hypothesis (II) , Urban residential characteristic which is in consisting with consistent balance between stability factors (features and characteristics of the cultural heritage), and change agents (of modern inputs, which include economic, sociodemographic, religious, cultural, political, legislative and technical, which showed a big difference between recent data and the presentinputs, which necessitated the emergence of new indicators that restore the correct status of our sobering heritage with new flavor.The research has approached an analytical method by dealing with fresh ideas and new theoretical concepts so as to reach a practical balance between tradition and modernity in the modern Iraqi city be, on other hand , the study has to crystalize , elaborate and translateit into practical indicators through determining the affecting variable diagnosis affecting on the likelihood of changing Iraqi urban identity in general and the structure of urban housing in particular. So the research has involved chapters, the first one is dealt with the basic concepts of identity and characteristics and the levels of all types and the determining the identity of the city reaching to , the identity of the home and find out the qualities and features of the urban where the Iraqi city received through the old housing and modern one as well as to be so close to the characteristics of each of these concepts , in order to develop and crystalize the research hypothesis, then , the research enters Chapter II beginning to define the changing and influencing input components exclusively on urban residential identity , through mentioning to the social factors - demographic, economic, and religious - cultural and political - legislative and technical, and to mention to each factor of them in general. Then the research enters Chapter III illustrating the mechanism of impact for each factor on the identity of the residential urbanization by taking aspects and details and varieties of each particular factor and how it affectson the details that can be attributed to the urban identity of theresidential city especially through the building materials , techniques, planning and handling of interfaces and finishes and sizes and masses of urban, After that , to reach the Chapter Four , the practical chapter of the research , it includes the application of the theoretical framework of indicators on a residential district within the city of Baghdad, which involves several shops.The practical study has relied on two levels, the analysis of research and study to identify through the distribution of a form on different samples by comparing different periods, in order to reach an order to compare the results between the old urban and its nature of identity with modern construction and clarify the change that happens on the housing to reflect the reality of urban civilization to create the urban identity of the Iraqi city.Finally , for the purpose of finding recent findings and reaching to by studying the theoretical and field results of the questionnaire to the most important recommendations of the research, as well as areas for future research and the beneficiaries of it. The main problem of this research is the lacking of the role of privacy in assigning identity. While the other one is the absence of identity in contemporary Islamic physical environment, so the research's purposes and aims are to define the role of privacy in identity. In addition; to define the indicators that upholds Identity in contemporary Islamic physical environment.Both individuals & groups need privacy as a daily quest. This lacking differs from environment to another. Its degrees also differ in one society because of many factors. So Privacy must be considered when designing any space for human uses. Privacy is considered the most important parameter affecting man - dealing with the space in use. Islam assured this privacy in different sources of the Islamic law (Holy Quran, Prophet's sayings, and Islamic jurisprudents). It had a role in forming architectural and urban shapes for traditional Islamic cities. So the research hypothesizes that "Privacy has the main role in the Identity of traditional Islamic cities". But modern urban fabrics have an unsuitable form for our traditions and religious values, separated buildings and outward looking design. If we talked about architectural respects in residential units - especially Privacy - we would find that it has disappeared, because of the repeating of western architecture which is not suitable for the traditions of Islamic society. Else the laws of these buildings do not have any conditions that organize the openings placement in order to provide Privacy. So people used different manners that verify privacy to their houses. So the research's hypothesis is that "the absence of Privacy in contemporary Islamic physical environment has the main role in the amissibility of Identity in both fabric & units".From here this research tried to study Privacy & Identity in architecture, and study the affecting parameters on their concepts. A case - study in selected models from Baghdad was chosen, so the research started by looking at Privacy & Identity concepts and tried to find what the characters of the traditional Islamic architecture are by sorting them into two levels : fabric and residential units. Then it would have a giving - back these characters to its juristic laws which were related to the Privacy concept in Islamic architecture, in order to verify its hypothesis.

This change threatens those centers of losing the historical and a cultural qualities character, and happening now in most of the historical centers of Iraqi cities which suffer than basic transformation (and secondary) ones to study these transformation specially the what in the morphology other centers. The subject has been handled by a lot of studies in various fields, but there are still some aspects which has not been exposure to it in a holistic manner and adequate, especially in connection with the specificity of the morphology of the historic centers of Iraqi cities.the research problem is specified by the non - clarity of priorities of the basic design within the projects of urban renewal in the historic city centers, especially the relationship shifts morphological between components of the city menu (main references of the city) and core functions of the traditional one hand, and between systems and additions urban development's where (or expatriate) the Other hand.There for research assumed Find the following aspects : - (individuals - institutions) - (legislations) plays the most important role in providing an integrated vision of the city, and aspects control in a way or another on the other the morphological transformation within the historic cities centers, so the research is interested in the nature of the relationship which control that system.Variables have been studied with a focus on basic methodologies to deal (with theoretically and practically) and extract indicators and applied to the example selected (center of the historic city of Najaf) also suggestion the most suitable methodology the application.Results appeared in the morphological transformations in the historic city centers in general, and Iraqi cities, in particular, rise in two conditions : - The first condition, the positive situation when the priorities are of the interaction of the elements of the transformations in contemporary cities with original components of the city menu (the basic city references) and traditional functions leads to a balanced development between them.The second condition is the negative which happens at the absence or weakness of planning which this leads to partial interfaces by many sides without coordinator the weakness of control of the city. Architecture, then is a manifestation of culture and at the same time a reflection of it.Generally different propositions show that culture changes because of many factors, and acculturation has emerged out of important operations which lead to cultural change as a result of contact between different societies or cultures.Since the cultural environment with its varying effects plays a major role in the formulation of architectural products, and owing to the increase in awareness all over the world in culture and cultural process such as acculturation and scarcity of architectural research on such topics at both Arab and local levels, it is felt that there is a need for a study on acculturation and architecture as a general topic for research.From a review of literature on acculturation and architecture during different historical periods, it becomes obvious that acculturation is always related to architecture and has effect on it and plays a role in formulating its styles wherever there was cultural contact between two or more cultures.It has become clear also that architectural products in Iraq were not immune to the effects of acculturation during the time period of Iraq came into contact with other cultures among which was ottoman _Turkish Culture. The research specific topic is, thus, defined by acculturation and architectural styles during the ottoman rule in Iraq.After the literature on the topic under consideration is reviewed, the research problem is defined as follows : There is need for knowledge to explore the nature, study and analyze of acculturation in architecture in general, and to specify its results at the level of house architecture style in Baghdad city during the late Ottoman rule in Iraq. The research aim is defined by : 1 - formulation of a more comprehensive framework of acculturation in such a way as to define its nature in architecture, study, and analyze it at the level of anyarchitecture especially at the house architecture style level. 2 - Formulation of an analytical, comparative and detailed system to study the results of acculturation at the house architecture style level. 3 - Identifying the results of acculturation at the house architecture style level during the late Ottoman rule in Iraq. This item covers a definite detailed aim represented by identifying the results of acculturation at the level of surface structure of the style of the elite houses architecture during the late Ottoman reign in Iraq.The research procedure is represented by the following steps : First, building a theoretical framework on acculturation in architecture based on previous architectural studies which are dealt with the concept, whether directly or indirectly, and support it by current propositions on the subject obtained from fields other than architecture. In addition the frame work is reinforced by studies on culture (the concept dimensions related to acculturation and architecture). All the previous steps should be accomplished so that the nature of acculturation in architecture in general can be further explored, and acculturation could be studied, analyzed and its results identified particularly at the level of house architecture style. Second, studying the dimensions and aspects of the concept of style in architecture and its relation with the concept of acculturation so that indicators and vocabularies of theoretical framework of acculturation in architecture are supported. No doubt, this will help the study of acculturation results at the level of house architecture style. Third, concluding the nature of acculturation in architecture, and the main indicators in its study and analysis (that is theoretical framework in its final detailed from). In addition a comparative and detailed system should be put forward to study the results of acculturation on the style of house architecture resulting from acculturation. Fourth, empirical study should be made to identify the results of acculturation on the level of style of house architecture in Baghdad during the late ottoman rule and to specify the application main requirements. Fifth, drawing and analyzing the results. Finally, drawing the final conclusions.The concluded theoretical framework has shown two fundamental points. They are the nature of acculturation in architecture and its most important indicators to study and analyze acculturation in architecture. As for the first dimension, it includes the following twoitems : definition of acculturation in architecture, and the path and stages of acculturation proses in architecture. The second dimension covers indicators to study and analyze acculturation in architecture which includes the following branch indicators : cultural indicators of contacted groups, communication indicators which lead to acculturation results, acculturation proses indicators, and acculturation results indicators. Moreover, an analyzing comparative and detailed system has been suggested, consisting of five stages to identify the results on the level of the house architectural style in its final detailed form.On the other hand, the empirical study involves the study of acculturation results at the level of the style of houses architecture of two types of elites : Iraqi origin and Turkish origin which existed in Baghdad during the late Ottoman rule in Iraq 1830 - 1917 AD. The Ottoman rule of Iraq lasted about five centuries and ended with end of First World War.After the basic application requirements are stated, the practical study and result analysis are done and a number of conclusions are drawn. The conclusions are divided into two groups. The first one deals with the theoretical part, so the research, In general, was able to reach to a theoretical formula which is more accurate, comprehensive, and obvious about the nature of acculturation in architecture so that it can be studied and analyzed better than the previous knowledge. In addition the research was able to introduce a system for analysis of architectural styles which is comparatively more comprehensive than previous analytical systems. The second group is concerned with the practical study in which the research was able in general to put forward a set of detailed conclusions, but it was generally possible to reach a summary of acculturation results resulting from the long term and comprehensive cultural contact between Iraqi and Turkish Ottoman cultures at the level of architectural style of elite houses in Baghdad during the late Ottoman rule of Iraq. These results are represented by energetic maintenance of the main characteristics of the architectural identity of the style of the elite houses architecture. However this maintenance began to decline (the start of medium sized maintenance) beginning at the end of the period studied. The superficial characteristics of the architectural identity were a field in which interaction, effect and cultural exchange of medium depth took place during the period studied.

المستخلص: في بداية القرن الحادي والعشرين يمكن ملاحظة وبوضوح النشاط الذي يرجع تاريخه الى اكثر من 125 سنة انتشا ا ر في مدن العالم وهو تشيد المباني العالية مع المزيد من الارتفاع والتنوع، فالمباني العالية يج ري بناؤها اكثرمن اي وقت سابق لاسباب اقتصادية واجتماعية | At the beginning of the century someone can notice the activity which goes back to more than 125 years ago and that is the wide spread of constructing high rise building withmore highs and diversity ,the high rise building are being build now more than any other time for economical and social reasons and more come as a solution o the increase ofpopulation ,this leap in construction comes with the world recognize the need to limit the greenhouses cases being produced by human activity the statistics show that the high rise buildings in the Urban areas are the first consumers of energy which affect the climate which can be said it is first challenge for modern world ,and with the advance of technology new ways appeared to decrease the effect of these building over the climate by following new methods that allow the presenting of solution for the problem of energy waste and the inability of our buildings to make use of the environments output.The fact emphasis the importance and targeting the use of renewable energy in high rise buildings as key factor in decreasing energy consumption, The general researchproblem appeared in the inadequacy in the covering and activating the role of modern technology for the elements of high rise building system and its ability of sustainabilityindividually according to its location and the private problem is the no integration of local environment reality of high rise Iraqi buildings locations with securing designrequirement and bases according to suitable environmental concept.The aim of the study is to show the role of modern technology and its role in improving the construction system and the outer cover system for high building and increasing of its functional ability and capabilities to the environmental circumentances and to build knowledge base for sustainable technological strategy to secure renewable energy in high buildings and the role of local environment location in consolidating the dependence on passive energy ,The research assumption the advanced technology in the area of sustainability and the strategy of environmental solution that is suitable for the environment of location in high rise building to achieve the highest functional conduct to decrease the negative side and lowering the working hand by integration with limitation of environmental surrounding.The research is divided into five chapters, Chapter one is to study development of construction system for high buildings by studying the effect of the loads and theclassification of this system and to view the latest development in the system and ensure of sustainability in the compound of the system ,Chapter two is to study the concept of building cover system and the classification of the system and its developing history and to show the effect of advance technology in the intelligence technologies and how to use it to be suitable for hot climate and to compare it with environmental aim. Chapter three to demonstrate the technological strategy for the sustainability of high rise building by compatibility without put local environment and the emphasis on the Iraqi situation in practicing of environment for reactive energy in those building ,Chapter four contains the summery of theoretical frame and its application on chosen enterprises ,Chapter five to reach the conclusions to the research on theoretical and practical level and reach final recommendations for the research.

المستخلص: يوجه البحث لغرض تطوير نتاج العمارة من خلال التكنولوجيا الرقمية تبعا للتطور التكنولوجي الحاصل في التوجه المعماري العالمي والانتفاع من التكنولوجيا الرقمية في التصميم المعماري والانشائي واستراتيجيات التصميم والانشاء كوسيلة لغرض تحقيق نتاجات معمارية مميزة | The Following Research constrains on the purpose of developing the architectural projects by the use of developed technology now a day, in the contemporary trends of architecture through the technology ,and the use of the digital technology and its effect on the design process and the fabrication strategies to achieve special types of Architectural projects, through the form , in the consideration of those technologies and strategies are important components to reach this specialty of the Architectural trends, and by studying an international ironic architectural masterpieces, in the time of considering the difficulties of using the ordinary fabrication process , it becomes an advantage of reaching the creativity in designing a form , function , structure , Ecological ,and biological creativity through those strategies and technologies.Now a day , the computer becomes a primary need of the life today , and that is reflected on the contemporary trends of Architecture through the different design process's stages and construction phases , and that reflects the massive change through those two processes , and by creating a new vision of Architectural design , and those technologies created a new methods of the design creativity , throw the software's and programs , that helps and effects on the form and the functions generally , Structures especially , and those softwares helps the designers to reach the final decision of nearest solution to the perfect.The research contains a study of the design methods by normal and digital design process and makes a discussion of the comparison to the two methods , and the main issue of the research is consisted potentially in the lack of knowledge parameters and the lack of what had been presented in the study of the digital Architectural and the systems of computers attends as a design and control tool on the design process , in the consideration of its massive abilities, instead of being a drawing and presentation tool only.the research constrains on the way to reach an new types of properties that had been added, which are more efficiency and more specified properties, comparing of what had been introduced in the latest studies , such GAO studies, which added new concepts on the design process, and those properties will be considered as the impact of the digital technology on the contemporary trends of architecture , and the reaches also targets the parameters, tools and the strategies that helps the designer to recreate a vision of the design and fabrication process through the digital technology.the research finds a relationship between the digital technology and its impact on the contemporary trends of Architecture, and puts new tools to develop this relationship , through the hypothesis of existence of impacts and effects that are lied on the trends of architect through the main time by using the latest digital technology, which is represented by using the Information technologies and computers , as a main way of impacts.and the research tests the results of that impact, and its levels which is being held by the digital technology, and the research reaches the phase of testing the levels of the introduction of the Architects on the projects designs and the way of developing those interacts of the architects on those properties.The research reaches the final phase of conclusions to make use of the digital technologies, to develop the architectural projects to a high level of creativity and ironically designs , through the design process according to the development of the digital technology and fabrication technology between the ordinary design process and the digital design process. المستخلص: الاسكان احد مرتكزات السياسة التنموية لاي بلد، ويمثل راس المال الثابت في اقتصاده. وبسبب العلاقة المتداخلة للاسكان كقطاع تنموي وخدمي في ان واحد،تظهر اهمية تنفيذ السياسات الاسكانية الوطنية الكفيلة بتفعيله على نحو يمكنه من التوصل الى تلبية الحاجة السكنية | Housing is one of the pillars of Development Policy for any country, and represents fixed capital in the economy.Because of the interrelationship of Housing as a development and a service sector at the same time, the importance of the implementation of national housing policies is demonstrated in a way that enabled to meet housing need within a specified period of time on one hand, and ensure the sustainability of the housing sector activity and productivity and its contribution to the economy and national development on the other.Chapter I introduced a number of related Housing studies(Planning,Housing,Economical,Social and ‏‏Legal), which revealed a knowledge problem : there is an interference related to housing concepts (housing and non - housing) and the absence of some of them, which led to lack of clarity of the appropriate characteristics of the environment for the implementation of National Housing Policies.These studies filtered a research problem : the lack of concepts clarity that allow the implementation of National Housing Policy, and its relationship with the social, economic , political and Housing contexts of the country.As the search looks at the National Housing Policies as an integrated system based on three foundations : Housing, Economic and Social, it developed a hypothesis that : the implementation of the National Housing Policies is based primarily on non - Housing rather than Housing concepts.The importance of research lies in that it presented a vision of Housing concepts (such as Housing Standards, Housing Patterns, Housing Tenure, Methods of Housing Provision) and other non - housing (the role of the state in the economy, and the development of the tripartite relationship of individuals - - society and the State), that underlies the implementation of National Housing Policies, and reflects the whole social, economic, and political contexts ,and allows the implementation of these policies.Chapter II focused on a number of Housing concepts (Housing Standards, Standard Policies, Housing Patterns and drawing Housing Indicators and elements that affects the selection of the dwelling. It distinguished between the Quantitative and Qualitative Deficit concepts, and their relationship to the concept of Affordability and Affordable Housing, and looks at the concepts of income, consumption, house price, Housing Stock and Housing Tenure from angles with deeper intellectual and philosophical dimensions, under a number of economic and social variables. Housing Provision Methods analysis (Supply and Empowerment) reveals unforeseen overlapping and strong relationships that affect the implementation of the National Housing Policy.Chapter III introduces economic concepts, where Housing is governed by the nature of the state role in the economy, at the level of intervention and coordination, the importance of the state institutions power compared by its functions.In a comparative context, the role of the state in the Islamic Economy, its involvement and its relationship with the individuals economic freedom are parallel, complementary and restricting. It appears that this intervention, as it has a legitimate back support, and other philosophical - political one, it explores lost dimensions of the state. On the other hand, the diversity of economies (Economies in transition, Token, and Market Economies), is reflected on the characteristics of the Housing Market in the Market Economy Policy. These characteristics are evident in comparison between the role of the state in a Centralized Economy and the Market Economy. It is no secret that the Development and its forms (political, economic, social and cultural), its concept in the thought of Islam, the way it is managed, and even the Myth of Development (as an opposite concept) have an obvious effect, along with the concepts of trust ,well - being and prosperity, and the role of Islamic State in the well - being.Accordingly, Economic Policies in Iraq could be understood ,with their former , current, and future approaches, and the National Development Plan in Iraq.Chapter IV deals with Social Concepts, that are almost the same in most societies (individual, family, society, principles, values and ethics), but the characteristics and relationships between these concepts vary from one community to another, and one environment to another. Research, as a general framework, deals with the concept of Sociology of Housing, as affected by the Transitional Stages, their relationship to Revolutions and their impact on society. The concept of Social - wise Capital, the tripartite relationship individuals - society - the state, the relationship of individuals with the state, Care Ethics, Trust and Social Mobility, together with the traditional social concepts such as standard of living , family size, on one hand, and is unforeseen, linked to the planning and implementation of Housing Policies.Chapter V deals, in a brief and intensively, Housing Policies Structure in general. And it presents some concepts that have been associated with these policies. In acomparative context, it deals with Housing Policy in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.Chapter VI, the research analyzes a number of studies and policies that are seen as key stations in the legacy of Housing Planning in Iraq, and compares National Housing Initiative in 2013, and the National Housing Policy 2010 - 2016, to reach a number of general and detailed conclusions and recommendations.

Such simulation involves a return to the natural ecosystems which had independent functional mechanism and integrates with everything presented by the surrounding environment, in addition to understanding the basis of such mechanism this simulation involves translating this mechanism to a number of primary laws that can be recruited in the production of an environment friendly ecological urban model.The aforementioned achievement of such purpose seeks to transfer the urban performance system to an integral and complete part of the natural performance system surrounding it. Such purpose will be the research foundation of all five chapters which proceed to give a primary clear picture of what the environment friendly ecological city is. The research, in its introduction, is based on a number of readings and briefings of previous literatures related to the subject matter which reveal the existence of a non - cognitive integration concerning many aspects of this subject. Therefore, the research issue individualizes in the "lack of available knowledge concerning the foundations of designing and planning the environment friendly ecological city". Accordingly as provided by the research issue, the research aims to "establish a general informative base of design and planning foundations of the environment friendly ecological city".So this research in its continuous quest to solve this issue, has assumed that "the emergence of human urban agglomerations has completely separated from the locations of the natural environment, and its developing towards environment friendly ecological agglomerations would depend on finding a complete urban structure grounded on a numbers of foundations and standards which are basically inspired from the qualities of systems in such natural environment". The research, in proving this hypothesis, has relied on a scientific descriptive analytical methodology in which its general structure is developed progressively. This methodology, in the first part of the research, seeks to build an integrated theory base about the ability of recruiting natural ecological laws in the sustainable urban construction operations. In the second part of which, it seeks to detail the designing and planning foundations of such construction and to verify its dependence ratio in different international experiments specialized in constructing environment friendly ecological cities. In translation of this methodology, the research contained a general organizational structure which includes an introduction and five research chapters. Chapter one, under the title "the origin of ecological city emergence" came to clarify the historical roots of ecological city emergence and the most important modern environmental urban problems which prompted its adoption in the construction operations of modern cities. This chapter represents the introduction of chapter two which is under the title" what is the ecological city in its environmental surrounding". This chapter explains the concepts of ecological city, its natural planning philosophy as well as the planning tools that describe it as a lived urban machine. Thereafter, comes chapter three which demonstrates "the design and planning foundations of structure components of the ecological city". This chapter shows the basic elements to establish the structure of the environment friendly ecological city and its most important design and planning foundations. , this chapter establishes for the fourth chapter which entitled as "the ecological city in the international experiments". This chapter sheds the light on detailed analytical study of many selected case studies in purpose of verifying the ability of implementing the findings of the theoretical framework of the previous chapters in reality. Chapter four of this research attains the conclusion of a number of mutual environmental decisions adopted by the sustainable developmental urban policies in many of the most successful countries in the field of establishing environment friendly ecological cities. These four chapters prepare a number of summary conclusions and recommendations which are shown in chapter five of this research "final conclusions and recommendation" which includes a reliable ruler of measure to find integrated components for an efficient ecological urban structure.

المستخلص: Electrochemical process is supplying unquestionable amelioration to treat the wastewater pollution, which is a major issue and particularly if the pollutants concerned of multi heavy metal ions. Therefore, two different configurations of electrochemical cells rotating cylinder electrode, RCE and fixed bed flow - by porous electrode, FBPE, in which electrolyte flow is perpendicular to the current flow. They are used to study their effect on the removal of four heavy metal ions being examined, which are : copper Cu(II), cobalt Co(II), cadmium Cd(II), and lead Pb(II)). As single, double, triple, and quaternary ions that were mixed, at different applied currents (150, 180, 250, and 300 mA) by using RCE and (50, 90, 150, 180, and 250 mA) by using FBPE. In addition, different dynamic conditions are examined, which are represented as different rotation speeds in RCE (100, 150, 200, 250, and 300 rpm) and different flow rates in FBPE (100,200,300,400, and 500 l/h). At different deposition times with constant initial concentration of the four metals ions as 125 ppm, the samples have been taken. The supporting electrolyte that is used in all experiments is 0.5 M NaCl at pH 3.5. Where a porous highly conductive material for both electrodes design stainless steel 316 of 60 mesh no.(60 60 pore in inch2) is chosen, to ensure the removal of heavy metals be effective and also the recovery of the deposited metal can be removed without damage the electrodes.The effect of the variation in the initial concentrations on the deposition process has been investigated. The range of initial concentration is from 50 to 200 ppm for Cu(II), Co(II), and Pb(II) ions with different applied currents (120, 180, 250, and 300 mA) and rotation speeds (100, 150, and 200 rpm) at constant time of deposition. Box - Wilson, central composite design, is chosen to carry out investigation and thirty - six response equations are found.The metals deposited on the electrode were recovered, which can be tested by X ray diffraction to characterize the composition of the recovered powder.The scope of the research mainly revealed the followings : The experimental results of the removal rate of the four metal ions : individually and as co - deposition as : binary, ternary, and quaternary metal ions, and at different conditions are presented. Mass transfer coefficients are found, and correlated with applied current and electrolyte velocity, which being more by applied current to increase. Furthermore, the characteristics of the deposited metal that recovered from the RCE, were examined by X ray diffraction which show high purity metal and binary metal alloys with little amount of impurities as lead oxides where the presence of lead oxides had the effect on producing binary alloys. Copper metal exhibited strongly then secondly lead, which appeared in three different phases and the weekly existence, was for cobalt. Experimental results, analysis and correlations showed good performance of the cell on removal multi metal ions from simulated effluents. Although the FBPE configuration had the magnificent performance by comparing with RCE, RCE had acceptable performance also with comparison with previous workers.

Earth tubes have been used as one of the most widely used heat transfer enhancement techniques in several industrial applications. Earth tube heat exchanger is a device which permits transfer of heat from fluid to deeper layers of soil and vice versa.The results of the heat transfer characteristics in earth tube heat exchanger are presented. The experimental test section is made of 50 m carbon steel pipe of 19.05 mm inner diameters and 25.95 mm outer diameters. The pipe was buried 2 m deep below ground surface. Water and gasoil were used as working fluids in the experimental runs. Experiments were performed under conditions of volumetric flow rates ranging from 0.5 to 2 m3/h and inlet working fluids temperature is between 35 to 70?C at winter season and between 50 to 70?C at summer season. Working fluids temperatures were measured at five points with equal length by thermocouples placed inside the pipe. Also, soil temperatures were measured at these points by thermocouples placed 0.5 m apart from pipe. The effects of working fluid flow rate, inlet temperature, pipe length on the overall performance of the earth tube heat exchanger was investigated at winter and summer seasons, respectively.It was shown that the heat transfer rate of the working fluid increases as the pipe length and inlet temperature increase, or volumetric flow rate decreases. Furthermore, the heat transfer rate in the first half of the pipe represents (33.3 to 87.5%) from the total heat transfer rate, depending on working fluid operating conditions. Also, it was noticed that the heat transfer rate in summer days is less than in winter days. Coefficient of performance (COP) analysis was also carried out to characterize the system performance at different operating conditions. The experimental earth tube heat exchanger (ETHE) system was attained a maximum COP of 45.589 at winter tests and 17.818 at summer tests for water as working fluid. But, the maximum COP was reached only 28.52 for gasoil as working fluid at summer.

المستخلص: ازالة المحتوى الكبريتي من الوقود هي قضية بيئية حاسمة على نحو متزايد. عملية الهدرجة(HDS) تزيل المركبات الكبريتية مثل المركبتان والكبريتيد من الهيدروكربونات، ولكن بعض الكبريت - يحتوي على مركبات (مثل dibenzothiophene) من الصعب جدا ازالتها وتحتاج عمليات عميقة | Removal of sulfur species from fuels is an increasingly critical environmental issue. Hydrodesulfurization (HDS) removes sulfur compounds, such as mercaptans and sulfides from hydrocarbons; however, some sulfur - containing compounds (such as dibenzothiophene) are very difficult to remove and need deep desulfurization processes.This work was applied to the desulfurization diesel fuel produced from the conventional HDS process or ultra - desulfurization. The used fuel types were either real diesel fuel or simulated diesel fuel, where sulfur - containing compound (dibenzothiophene) converted to its corresponding sulfone by oxidation using hydroperoxide as an oxidant and formic acid as cocatalyst with activated carbon (AC), in addition to its adsorbent virtue. Simulated diesel fuel according to British Petroleum 200B doped with dibenzothiophene was prepared.The experimental study was divided into two parts, preliminary study, that include thermally (activated carbon with heat treatment (ACH)) and chemically treatments (i.e. activated carbon impregnated with copper (Cu/AC), activated carbon impregnated with nickel(Ni/AC), activated carbon impregnated with copper and nickel (Cu - Ni/AC) and activated carbon with nitric acid treatment (ACN) ) to the parent activated carbon, these types were tested at different operating conditions (i.e. temperature = 25 and 60 ?C, pH=2, H2O2/diesel fuel ratio=3/100 and activated carbon doses = 0.7 and 1.0 g) to achieve the best one that gives higher desulfurization efficiency. ACM that is a mixture of ACH and ACN (equal percentage) gives 80% sulfur removed at operating conditions of temperature= 60 ?C, pH=2, H2O2/diesel fuel ratio=3/100 and ACM doses = 0.7 g. In general, the activity of activated carbons as follows ACM >ACN > ACH > Ni/AC > Cu/AC > Cu - Ni/AC > parent AC While, the second part represents the main study, that deals with the desulfurization process in details, using ACM with operating conditions of temperature of 60 - 80 ?C, pH of 0 - 4, H2O2/diesel fuel ratio of 3/100 to 7/100 and ACM doses of 0.5 to 1.0 g Maximum desulfurization efficiency achieved was 92.3% at operating conditions of temperature= 80 ?C, pH =0, H2O2/diesel fuel ratio= 5/100 and ACM dose =1.0 g.Finally, two experiments with the best conditions above were done on the real diesel fuel. Maximum desulfurization efficiency was 25% at temperature= 80 ?C, pH =0, H2O2/diesel fuel ratio= 5/100 and ACM dose =1.0 g.

معالجة مياه المصب العام للحقن في حقل الناصرية النفطي == Water Treatment of Main Outfall Drain For Injection In Nasiriyah Oil Field

المستخلص: يهدف العمل الحالي لانتاج مياه ملائمة للحقن في حقل الناصرية النفطي من المصب العام يتكون الجزء العملي من هذا البحث من ثلاثة مراحل(1) التخثير/ التلبد , (2) مرشح ماء الجاذبية الطبيعية او غشاء دقيق و(3) تقنية اغشية النانو. المرحلة الاولى, تخلص عملية التخثير/ | The aim of the present work is to produce water appropriate for injection in Nasiriyah oil field from Main Outfall Drain (MOD). The experimental work in this research consists from three stages (1) coagulation/ flocculation, (2) natural gravity water filter or microfiltration membrane (MF) and (3) nanofiltration membrane (NF) technology. The first stage, coagulation/flocculation process removed the suspended solids from MOD and reduced the turbidity to the demand limits. The variables studied were initial turbidity (11.8 - 100 NTU), coagulant dosage (0 - 55 ppm), speed of the slow mixing step in the jartest apparatus (2nd step) (20 - 40 rpm), time of 2nd step (20 - 40 min), and settling time (10 - 50 min). Turbidity increases by increasing initial turbidity and decreases by increasing the coagulant dosage, speed and time of 2nd step and settling time until the reaching to the optimum for them at the minimum turbidity, then any increasing of the coagulant dosage, speed and time of 2nd step will increase the turbidity, while any increasing of settling time will do no effect on turbidity. The optimum dosage for alum was 35, 40 and 50 ppm. While, for ferric chloride it was 15, 20 and 30 ppm and for polyelectrolyte 4, 8 and 10 ppm for 11.8, 30 and 100 NTU initial turbidity respectively. The optimum speed of 2nd step was 25 rpm for each of alum (35 ppm), ferric chloride (15 ppm) and polyelectrolyte (4 ppm). While the optimum time of 2nd step was 30 min for each of alum (35 ppm), ferric chloride (15 ppm) and polyelectrolyte (4 ppm) and settling time was 30 min for each of alum (35 ppm), ferric chloride (15 ppm) and polyelectrolyte (4 ppm). The second stage, natural gravity water filter or microfiltration MF was used to ensure that the particle size was in the demand limits (less than 10 ?m) and reduce the turbidity and the total suspended solids (TSS) to the demand limits (5 NTU and 3 - 3.5 mg/l). It was found that turbidity and TSS increases by increasing the inlet turbidity and TSS and the results was arranged progressively as the following : Natural gravity water filter ? 5 ?m MF ? 1 ?m MF. The final stage, nanofiltration NF membrane technology was used to remove sulphate from MOD. The variables studied were feed concentration (1800 - 9630 mg/l) and operating temperature (27 - 37 oC). Also concentrate recirculation was used to obtain high recovery percentage of water can be inject. It was found that product flow rate increases by increasing temperature and decreases by increasing salts concentration in feed. Also it was found that salts concentration in product increases by increasing feed concentration and temperature. Rejection percentages were (94.475 - 95.631 %), (88.088 - 90.714 %), (83.33 - 93.2 %), (85.116 - 92.727 %) and (65.385 - 72.727 %) for sulphate, total hardness (TH), Ca2+, Mg2+ and Cl - respectively and recovery percentage of product water was (11.429 - 38.143 %) for polyamide membrane (TFC). In the case of concentrate recirculation, feed concentration, permeate concentration and volume of permeate increases with increasing in operating time and 12.69 liter of water valid for injection in oil field was recovered from 25 liter feed after 180 minute.
