Abstract: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways in which many cells and cellular elements play a role. Causes recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and coughing. These episodes cause airflow obstruction, often reversible either spontaneously or with treatment. The current study was conducted at the Labs of college of Education for pure science and Al - Hussein Teaching Hospital in Thi - Qar province, during the period from October 2014 to May 2015. The study aimed to investigate role of polymorphism of IL - 13 gene in patients with asthma and to evaluate their immune status by measuring the levels of some immunological parameter immunoglobulins ( IgE) by enzyme - linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and (IgG, IgM ) by single redial immune diffusion (SRID) and measure the levels of interleukins (IL - 6, IL - 17) in the serum using enzyme - linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), the study included test phagocytic cells on phagocytosis (coefficient of phagocytosis) and the total and differential count of white blood cells .A total of 100 patients with bronchial asthma (68 females) and (32 males) whose age lies between 17 - 62 years have enrolled in this study. DNA was extracted and RFLP - PCR was performed by using primers specific for the gene IL - 13, the results showed the presence of mutations in a48 sample out of 100 patients with asthma at site 1112C/T after using restriction enzyme BstUI. the statistical analysis showed correlation between the occurrence of the disease and the emergence of mutation (C / T) in the promoter region of IL - 13 gene when compared with the healthy control in population of Thi - Qar province .When it was compared the patient group with healthy control group there was a high significant increase (P ≤ 0.001) in serum IgE, IgG of patients with asthma compared with healthy control group. And no significant difference in serum IgM of patients with asthma compared with healthy control group. Decrease coefficientphagocytosis was significantly (P ≤ 0.001) in all patients with asthma compared with healthy control group. Levels of interleukin (IL - 6, IL - 17) measured in serum of 60 a sample of patients with asthma, and in the serum of 20 samples from healthy control group. The results showed a significant increase (P ≤ 0.001) in the levels of these interleukins in the serum of patients with asthma compared to the control group. Also there was increased in the rate of counting the total of WBCs and differential cell lymphocytes, eosinophil, neutrophil, basophil, and monocyte (P ≤ 0.001) in patients with asthma compared with the healthy people in the control group.

Abstract: Breast cancer is a complex and multifactorial disease resulting in abnormal cell growth that leads to malignant tumor formation. In this study we focus on mutations of breast cancer susceptibility genes 1 and 2 (BRCA1 and BRCA2), immunohistochemical evaluation of estrogen, progesterone, HER - 2 receptors, ABO blood groups , white blood cells and clinicopathological parameter ( age, breast feeding, family history and tumor site) .Eighty five blood samples were taken from patients who attended Al - Hussain teaching hospital and oncology unit in Al - Habboby hospital during the period (from August /2014 to April /2015) , fifty blood samples were collected from healthy women as a control group who attended Al - Hussain teaching hospital and divided into groups according to age, family history, age at first brith, breast feeding. For histopathological and immunohistochemical analysis fifty tissue samples were collected from patients with breast cancer who were undergoing surgical resection (mastectomy). Blood samples were obtained by venepuncture , using a 5 ml disposable syringe , and they were divided into three aliquots, which were 1 ml, 2 ml and 2ml, for collect serum, genetic studies and hematological parameters (leucocycte count and ABO blood groups) study. The tissue samples were collected from the 50 patients with breast cancer for histopathological diagnosis and for Immunohistochemical analysis (estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor and here2/nue) The total patients were divided according to their age in to five groups (30 - 39), (40 - 49), (50 - 59), (60 - 69) and (≥70 years). results of present study revealed that a highest incidence of breast cancer (41%) occur in the age oup between 40 - 49 years, there is a significant difference among patients groups (P ≤ 0.01).The results of our study showed that (77) of patients lactating and from those according to period of lactation we found that the highest percentage of patients (37.6%) were lactating for period between (18 - 22months) and the lowest percentage (10.38%) lactating for period between (1 - 6 month). Family history of breast cancer indicates a strong association with risk of developing breast cancer. The result of the present study revealed that the family history positive in 31 cases (36.47%), and 54 cases (63.52%) had negative family history of breast cancer. The results of present study showed that (41.5%) had first birth at age (20 - 29years), (23.37%) had their first birth in age group (15 - 19 years) and (30 - 39 years), and (9.09%) had first birth at age (≥40 years).Regarding the tumor site, we found that most of patients (50.5%) the tumor mass was located in the right side and (38.8%) cases the tumor mass were located in the left side. The DNA was extracted from blood samples by using Accupower® genomic DNA extraction kit. Each concentration and purity of all DNA samples have been measured by Nanodrop. Samples with a purity ranged from 1.2 to 1.8 have been enrolled in this study for the molecular detection of BRCA1/2 gene mutation in patients and control groups. Detection of BRCA1/2 gene mutation by multiplex PCR revealed that (185 del AG mutation in BRCA1 gene) was detected in 6 patients (7.05%) out of 85 cases with breast cancer, and (5382 ins C) mutation in the same gene was detected in 2 patients (2.35%). Regarding (6174 del T) mutation in BRCA2 gene was detected in 3 patients (3.52%). While this mutation was not detected in the control groups.Histopathologically, carcinoma was divided into 44 cases (88%) ductal carcinoma {from which 42 cases (84%) were invasive ductal carcinoma, and 2 cases (4%) were comedocarcinoma}, and 6 cases (12%) cases invasive lobular carcinoma. Results revealed that 2 cases (4%) were stage I, 13 cases (26%) were stage II, 24 cases (48%) were stage III and 11 cases (22%) were stage IV, also our results showed that the 2 cases (4%) were grade I, 23 cases (46%) were grade II and 25 cases (50%) were grade III. The results of immunohistochemical analysis for breast cancer samples showed that Estrogen receptors were present in 36 cases (72%), and 14 cases (28%) were negative, while Progesterone receptors detected in 27 cases (54%), and 23 cases (46%) were negative, on the other hand the expression of HER - 2/neu showed positive results in 28 cases (56%), and 22 cases (44%) were negative.Regarding the ABO blood groups, we found that most of the cases carry blood group A (40 cases, 47.05 %), and the lowest frequency was for blood group AB (7 cases, 8.23%).The results of the present study showed that leukocytes count, lymphocytes count, monocytes count, neutrophils count and basophiles count were lower in patients than the control group, with a significant difference (p value ≤ o.o1). While the eosinophils count was significantly higher in patients than the controls (p value ≤ o.o1).

Abstract: Toxoplasma gondii is a unique intracellular parasite, which infects a large proportion of the world, population, but clinically uncommonly causes significant disease. The present study was performed for the first time in Thi - Qar province to estimate the prevalence of toxoplasmosis among university students. Blood samples were collected from 319 (111 males and 208 females) apparently healthy students, they have ages between (18 - 42) years attended from different colleges of Thi - Qar university (students of morning and evening study), during the period from October 2013 to April 2014.Enzyme linked Immunosorbant Assay (ELISA), was used to evaluate the presence of anti - Toxoplasma IgM and IgG antibodies and detection of B1 gene of T.gondii DNA by Real - Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT - PCR).The results indicated that 21.94% of students were exposed to positive for anti - Toxoplasma antibodies, 5.33% of them had IgM, 11.91% had IgG, and 4.70% had both IgM and IgG. Statistically, they were significant difference between them. There were a significant difference between males and females in total rate but not significant of antibodies pattern in them, which recorded 7.52% of males and 14.42% of females were positive for anti - Toxoplasma antibodies. The study demonstrated that no significant difference in infection percentages between colleges where students studied, although the highest seropositivity students was 47.83% in education sports college whereas it did not score any infection with toxoplasmosis in College of Education for Pure Science .The current study also showed that the highest positive percentage with T.gondii of male students was 28.57% in College of Engineering while the highest percentage with T.gondii of female students was 30.43% in College of sports education. The present study revealed that the acute infection of toxoplasmosis which presented IgM and both IgM and IgG was high at small age youngstudents (18 - 22) years while the chronic infection which presented IgG was high at old students (38 - 42) years. The present study demonstrated that seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis was significantly associated with close contact with cats. Although more students in the positive sample group eating undercooked meat but not significant difference between those 36.13% and other students who did not have this habit 13.5% has been discovered. The results showed the highest positive percentage samples at middle socioeconomic level was 24.10% while the lowest percentage at good socioeconomic level was 19.60% .The results showed that the highest positive percentage samples 31.0% at Refaee district whereas the lowest percentage was 19.78% as noticed at Naserya district. The present study demonstrated that seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis was significantly associated with presence of clinical symptoms (fever, headache, malaise, influenza) that may have a relationship with toxoplasmosis of infected students when compared with not presence clinical symptoms of those (p<0.05) they recorded 18.57% and 81.43% respectively. The present study revealed an association between blood group system and Toxoplasma infection with highest prevalence among samples of blood group A+ 30.65% and lowest prevalence in samples of blood group B+ 17.44% .The current study evolutes the rate of some blood parameters, in infected and non infected students, there was no significant difference observed in mean hemoglobin level (Hb), total count of leukocytes (WBCs), neutrophilis, lymphocytes, monocytes and basophilis numbers in both student . While significant differences were observed in mean of eosinophils number of infected students was more than number of non infected students. Moreover, mean of lymphocytes number recorded significant differences between infected and non infected females only.Besides the serological diagnosis of T.gondii, Real - Time PCR (RT - PCR) technique was used to confirm the infection with T.gondii by detection B1 gene of T.gondii DNA in the blood of students. Out of 319 students only 6.26% showed positive for toxoplasmosis among those 2.50% were males and 3.76% were females. The positive result in RT - PCR analysis were distributed on the patterns of the anti - Toxoplasma antibodies by ELISA test , Any positive blood samples with IgM, IgG and both IgM and IgG respectively have not been found whereas 20 positive cases of no anti - Toxoplasma antibodies.Real - Time PCR test in student's blood has advantages in detection of recent or active toxoplasmosis

Abstract: Toxoplasmosis is the general term for infection and disease in human and animal caused by a parasite called Toxoplasma gondii, this disease is prevalent among different categories of people , Heart disease patients are one of them. Because of the dormancy status of T. gondii, there is ambiguity and variation in the immunity of patients. This study aimed to investigate the immune status of heart disease patients infected with toxoplasmosis, to detect the prospective relationship between heart disease patients and T. gondii, and investigate the relationship between toxoplasmosis and risk factors which included gender, age, blood group, contact with cats, and habitation. One hundred fifty samples of blood had been collected at period from August 2016 till November 2016 from patients with heart disease, they lying or visit Heart Medical Centre in Thi - Qar province. According to gender, the patients divide in to (81 males and 69 females) with age ranging 18 to 82 years. Also one hundred samples of blood had been collected from apparently healthy persons as negative control ,dividing according to gender in to ( 55 males and 45 females) with age ranging 19 to 56 years . All samples of both subjects had been tested by ELISA technique to detect anti - Toxoplasma Abs (IgG & IgM) . While the positive samples with toxoplasmosis were tested to detect the level of interleukins (IL - 10, IL - 12 and IL - 17).The overall of seropositivity of anti - Toxoplasma Abs that scored by ELISA in the current study was 44% in heart disease patients are higher than those in apparently healthy controls 19%, and there was a significant difference between them. There is a significant difference between male and female, in the seropositivity of anti - Toxoplasma Abs that scored in controls, in male was higher than those in female. Presence of antiSummary toxoplasmosis Abs in all types of heart disease patients with significant difference among them, and the highest percentage of anti - toxoplasmosis Abs in Mitral stenosis( MS) was 55.8% , and the lower value was 30.3% in Myocardiopathy. There are significant differences between the age groups and the percentage of anti - Toxoplasma Abs in heart disease patients with highest value was 63.2% at age group of 61 - 75 years, and the lowest one was 26.3% at age group of 15 - 30 years. While no significant differences between the age groups and toxoplasmosis in apparently healthy controls with highest value was 19.5% at age group of 31 - 45 years, and the lowest one was 8.6% at age group of 15 - 30 years. The results demonstrated that seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis was significantly associated with close contact with cats. The percentage of seroprevalence anti - Toxoplasma Abs in heart disease patients and controls inhabited rural area was 52.5% and 32% are higher than those inhabited urban area was 34.3% and 6% respectively. Some blood parameters were estimated of both subjects infected and non - infected with toxoplasmosis. There was high significant difference at p≤0.05 observed in mean ratio of eosinophil’s number between infected and not infected subjects with toxoplasmosis in both subjects. While there was no significant differences in mean ratio of total count of WBCs. Moreover, mean of lymphocytes number recorded significant differences betweeninfected and non - infected heart disease patients only. The blood group phenotypes of the infected heart disease patients and controls highlight the role in toxoplasmosis infection and the AB blood group characterized by the highest significant percentage of infection. The results of interleukins appeared high mean levels of IL - 12 82.85 pg/ml in heart disease patients infected with toxoplasmosis when compared with control 60.97 pg/ml, and there was significant difference between them. While there was no significant difference in IL - 10 and IL - 17 in both patients and controls. The results also showed decreased level of IL - 17 in patients with heart disease. The increased level of IL - 12 in patient with heart disease infected with toxoplasmosis indicate to the activity of cell mediated immunity in those patients and may be lead to provoke an inflammatory status in the heart valves and muscle then worse heart disease to be sever and need complicated treatments

Abstract: The present study includes the isolation and identification of some mycoflora from 40 soil samples in six places ( Remnants of fat - born, parks, edges of the river, animal wastes, sewage and rubbish) during October 2015 - January 2016 in Nasseriya City, Iraq. According to different environmental factors, the isolated genera were Aspergillus, Penicillium, Mucor, Rhizopus, Cladosporium, Sepedonium chrysospermum, Alternaria chlamydospora, Bipolaris, Chrysosporium, Candida albicans, Rhododendron flavum, Humicola, Geotrichum candidum, Fusarium and Acremonium. Three isolation methods were used. Dilution method, direct plate method, alcohol and heat treatment technique using the cultural media viz. Potato Dextrose Agar ( PDA), Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) and Potato Carrots Agar (PCA). Aspergillus represented the highest fungal isolates which represent 62 (37.12%). followed by Penicillium with 47 (28.14%), Mucor 22 (13.16%), Rhizopus 15 (8.98%), Cladosporium 6 (3.59%), Sepedonium chrysospermum and Alternaria chlamydospora, 3 (1.80%), Biopolaris, Chrysosporium and Candida albicans with 2 (1.20%), and finally Rhododendron flavum, Humicola, Acremonium, Fusarium and Geotrichum candidum recorded the lowest fungal isolation with one isolate for each (0.60%). The study was aimed to isolation of Penicillium from soil and assay its antibacterial activity. The results showed that dilution method gave a best fungal growth in comparison with direct plate method and alcohol and heat treatment technique in 25 ºC and pH = 6. PDA appeared as an optimum medium for isolation in comparison with other media such as SDA and PCA. The preliminary results showed that Penicillium sp. exerted antibacterial activity against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria; Therefore, this fungus was used for production of antibiotic on Potato Dextrose Broth (PDB) medium. The optimum conditions were obtained at pH = 6, incubation temperature of 25 ºC and shaking rate of 180 rpm for 7 days to fermentation. Ethyl acetate was a good organic solvent to extraction of antibiotic which produced (3g/L) as white to creamy crystals. The characterization of the antibiotic product after extraction and purified by chemical methods included Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) test, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectra and Mass Spectra. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) for clinical bacterial species was 1 - 10mg/ml.The PCR method used in this study utilized Internal transcribed spacer (ITS1 - 4) as a primer for identification of isolates. Two PCR products of the targeted gene of Penicillium chrysogenum isolates which locally named as (Penicillium chrysogenum F1 and Penicillium chrysogenum F2) were selected and subjected to partial DNA sequencing for the ITS gene to follow up the possible molecular relationship between these local isolates and what recorded globally in Genbank.

Abstract: In this thesis, we considered the problem of scheduling ???? jobs on a single machine. The aim of this study is to find the optimal and near optimal solutions for the sum of cost of total flow time and maximum late work with unequal ready time, this problem denoted by 1????????⁄Σ????????+????????????????????????=1⁄. The problem is strongly NP - hard, the branch and bound method was using to find optimal solution. Two lower bounds (LB1, LB2) are proposed each of them based on decompose the problem into two sub problems. The lower bounds of the problem is the sum of the lower bounds of the two sub problems. A heuristic which gives an upper bound in the root node of BAB algorithm was proposed, its effective in finding an optimal or near optimal schedule. Also, we proved some special cases of the problem which lead to optimal solution, three dominance rules were stated and proved. The results of extensive computational tests show that the proposed BAB algorithm is effective in solving problems up to (35) jobs at a time less than or equal to (30) minutes. We apply two local search methods to find near optimal solutions : Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) and Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm (FOA) .Computational experience found that these local search methods can solve the problem up to (6000) jobs with reasonable time, also found that : The AFSA has better results for the problem of size less than or equal to (35) jobs, but for the problems of size larger than (35) jobs, The FOA has the best results. All methods used in this research are programmed by using a programming language (MATLAB Language).

Abstract: The dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is one of the photochemical electric cells, which consists of the photo electrode, dye, electrolyte, and the counter electrode. The advantage of DSSC is the low cost of the solar energy conversion into electricity because of inexpensive materials and the relative ease of the fabrication processes. In this work, titanium dioxide (TiO2) films as a photo electrode were prepared from anatas titanium Oxid (TiO2) nanoparticles and deposited by doctor blade method on fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO)coated glass substrates. After the process of deposition that including the prepared samples in the oven, the temperature raises from room temperature (R.T) to set up to around 400°C. Half an hour later, the temperature started to decrease to reach theroom temperature (R.T) . Multi - walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT)used as a counter electrode instead of platinum(Pt),where prepared by spray pyrolysis technique (SPT) at 300°C,10 sec as spraying time ,and 60 sec stopped time. In the next step, Preparing the dye solution at room temperature then placed TiO2 electrode in the dye solution for 24 hours in the dark .The last step is collecting two electrodes one over the other leads to build a solar cell. Then a mixture electrolyte about(0.6 M 1 - methyl - 3 propoylimidazolium iodide (PMII) + 0.1 M LiI )is dipped onto the surfaces of both (FTO glass/TiO2NP/D149/PMII and MWCNTs/FTO)glasses .The thickness about (400nm) and the films are prepared under various deposition conditions in order to understand the effect of the temperature on the cell properties and to specify the optimum condition. X - ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) are used for the structural analysis.Raman scattering spectrum used to determine the type of material CNTs used for DSSCs fabrication , Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) used for description as an analysis for system chemical structure of the atoms. UV and visible spectra have been recorded as a function of wavelength in the range (200 - 1000 nm) in order to study the optical properties such as reflectance, energy gap of allowed and forbidden direct transitions, extinction coefficient, refractive index, and dielectric constant in real and imaginary parts. It has been found that all the investigated parameters are affected by the sensitizer dye in the visible region of the spectrum .Finally I - V characteristic curves of the fabricated cell were measured and studied, this cell shows highest photovoltaic performances to date as Solid state dye sensitive solar cells

Abstract: The performance of passive Q - switching with intracavity laser system to generate high power pulses have been investigated .The considered laser system consists of Nd : YVO4 , Cr4+ : YAG, and BaWO4 as a active medium, saturable absorber material, and Raman medium respectively to generate high power pulses . A computer program has been employed to solve the rate equations which are simulates the system performance numerically by Rung - Kutta - Fehelberg method. So, the results of the numerical solution have been utiliza to calculate the photons losses behavior in order to study the effects of these losses in the system performance.Raman spontaneous scattering factor ( ) sp k effect on high power pulses characteristics has been studied. There is a small increasing in the duration of the passive Q - switching pulse and stability in duration of stokes pulse when the factor ( ) sp k become high value. According to the current study, the reason of this behaviour is related to the small increasing in the falling time of passive Q - switching pulse and the semi stability in the falling time of passive Q - switching pulse . So, the mentioned aspect demonstrates the increasing in the pulses energy. The study explain that as an outcome high density of the pulses photons .Also the study shows the power of pulses is increasing with Raman spontaneous scattering factor value. In the study aspect which concern the losses behaviour in term of Raman spontaneous scattering factor, the study shows that the decreasing in the final value of total photon loss with Raman spontaneous scattering factor. The study related that to decreasing which occur in the density number of the ground state of SAM ions , that lead to decrement in its absorption activity, this is dominators of the increment in the excited stateof SAM absorption activity according to the difference values ofabsorption cross sections of levels.Output coupler mirror reflectivity on Raman laser pulse characteristics has been studied, the study illustrate that the broadening in the duration of Raman laser pulse whenever the value of output coupler reflectivity at Raman photons ( ) R R increases, the study explains that related to the broadening in the falling time of the pulse. Concerning the pulse energy, the study demonstrates the increase which occurs in the energy of Raman laser pulse with increase of the output coupler reflectivity at Raman photons ( ) R R , the study related that to increase in the photons density. A according that mentioned the study illustrate the increase in the power of Raman laser pulse with the increase of the output coupler reflectivity at Raman photons ( ) R R .Finally, the study arrives to concludes that the passive Q - switching laser system of Nd : YVO4, Cr : YAG, with intracavity Raman medium (BaWO4) crystals which takes into account characterized by compatible performance to obtain high power pulses. So, the Raman media which are distinguished by high spontaneous scattering factor are more efficient to realization high power Raman laser pulses. In addition, the quality factor of resonator is found tobe proportional with the spontaneous scattering factor of Raman medium.

Abstract: In communication field, there are many advantages for using terahertz carriers in optical data transmission along both analog and digital links such as small antenna sizes and large information bandwidth. The optical injection locking is an alternative technique to improve the dynamic properties of QCL light sources. In this technique the frequency and phase of one laser oscillator, known as the slave laser, are locked through the direct coupling to the light injection from another laser oscillator, known as the master laser. In this work, the optical injection locking induced laser dynamics in a QCL is investigated theoretically. The present theoretical analyses are based on the rate equations model that takes into account all carrier relaxation processes as well as the effect of the optical injection locking. The small signal analysis is used to calculate the intensity modulation response and intensity noise in QCL. The present analysis focuses on the effect of carrier relaxation time and the optical injection locking on the dynamic properties in these devices. The results show that the optical injection locking and fast carrier relaxation time can enhance the dynamic properties and decreases noise value and increases the modulation bandwidth in these advanced lasers. The optical injection locking increases the carrier density in active region to suppress the effect of fast carrier scattering to lower state and enhances the stimulated emission. The fast carrier relaxation times decreases the threshold injection current. Also, in optical injection operation, the active region length and linewidth enhancement factor has strong effect on the intensity modulation response and intensity noise.
