Abstract: This study aims at finding out : 1 - The effect of workshop technique on Iraqi EFL students' self - esteem.2 - The effect of workshop technique on Iraqi EFL students' performance in language skills. To achieve the aims of the study, the following null hypotheses have been tested : 1 - There is no statistical significant difference between the mean score of students of the experimental group which is taught by workshop technique and that of the control group which is taught by the traditional used technique in the post - administration of self - esteem questionnaire.2 - There is no statistical significant difference between the mean score of students of the experimental group which is taught by workshop technique and that of the control group which is taught by the traditional used technique on their performance in the post - test of English language skills. A Non - Randomized Pre - Post Test Control Group experimental design has been used. The sample of the study consists of 82 students of Iraqi EFL fifth preparatory school - scientific branch (40 students for experimental group)and (42students for the control group) for the academic year 2014 - 2015. The two groups (experimental and control group) have been equalized on the following variables : Age of the students, Students' achievement in English(scores of the first course), Parents' Education ,The pre - test, Level of intelligence and Level of self - esteem. Two instruments have been used in this study. They are a test and a questionnaire. The validity of the instruments has been secured by exposing the instruments to jury members in the field of ELT and linguistics. A number of statistical methods has been used in order to verify the reliability of the tests as well as the questionnaire. After the application of the experiment and the study instruments, the results of this study show that : 1 - There is a statistical significant difference between the two groups in their self - esteem and in favour of the experimental group and; 2 - There is a statistical significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the post - test and in favour of the experimental group.Finally, some conclusions, recommendations, and suggestions for further studies are put forward as follows : 1 - Workshop technique is capable of meeting the learners' potential needs ,autonomy, and healthy personality 2 - The workshop technique represents actual solution for the current educational situation.It saves the effort and time of both teachers and learners.3 - The workshop technique requires highly experienced teachers who are proficient in designing daily plan as well as an appropriate environment in the class for successful workshop.4 - The workshop technique has a prominent function in developing the students' performance of the experimental group. This is obvious from the post - test results which reflect a significant statistical difference in the students' performance, in favour of the experimental group.5 - The workshop technique has an outstanding utility in developing the students' self - esteem of the experimental group. This is obvious from the post - test results of the questionnaire which reflect a significant statistical difference in the students' self - esteem , in favour of the experimental group.6 - The four linguistic skills must be tackled as one and not to be separated into detached skills because they are integrated in our realistic situation and have to be used as real as possible in order to get authentic education.7 - Workshop technique is a good means for reflection which is neglected in the educational syllabus in our country while it must be considered the spirit of optimal learning and teaching if it is paid well attention and enough time by the teachers

Chapter Four : This includes the following : First : The methodology and Procedures of Study : The researcher depended on the descriptive approach to study the phenomena and used the SPSS package and T - test for one sample , and T - tests for two independent samples, Pearson correlation coefficient, and also the multiple decline analysis.Second : Sample of Study : Two samples were chosen randomly from teachers and students of Baghdad University , The teacher sample includes (200) teaching personnel (male, female) , and a sample of students (400). Abstract: يروم البحث الحالي معرفة اثر استراتيجية ايشيكاوا في اكتساب المفاهيم العلمية في مادة العلوم لدى تلميذات الصف الخامس الابتدائي، وذلك عن طريق التحقق من الفرضية الصفرية الاتية : - 1 - لا يوجد فرق ذو دلالة احصائية عند مستوى دلالة (0.05) بين متوسط درجات تلميذات ا | This research aims at investigating the impact of Eshykawa’s strategy in acquiring the scientific concepts by the female students of the fifth primary class in (Science) through checking the following zero [null] hypothesis : 1// There is no difference of a statistical indication at the level (0.05) between the average of scores of the female students in the experimental group who have studied by using Eshykawa’s strategy in acquiring the scientific concepts in (Science), and the average of scores of the female students in the controlling group who have studied by using the traditional approach for the same topic in acquiring the scientific concepts.The researcher depends on the experimental design of partial control for the two (experimental and controlling) groups, which is of dimensional test designed experimentally for this research. According to this design, a sample has been chosen - the sample consists of female students of the fifth primary class from Al - Intifatha Primary School for Girls in Baghdad belongs to the First Rissaffa Educational Directorate, for the academic year (2015 - 2016) [First Semester]. The sample consists of (70) female students divided into classes, one of them resembles the experimental group, and the second resembles the controlling one. Each group, in turn, includes (35) female students. Section B has been taught the scientific concepts by using Eshykawa’s strategy, and section (A) has been taught the scientific concepts by using the traditional approach.The two groups have been rewarded by certain variables : age, scientific achievement in (Science) for the fourth primary class, the scores of previous achievement test, the scores of intelligence test, the parent’s achievement. In addition, for adopting the experiment, the researcher has decided (20) basic concepts within the first and second units from the textbook of the fifth primary class. The behavioral objectives have been designed as three levels for processes of acquiring the concepts; they are : definition, distinction, and application. The behavioral objectives are (60) and they have been used in writing the lesson plans for teaching relying on the independent variable.The researcher has prepared a test for acquiring the scientific concepts for it is the ‘tool’ of the research. The items of the test are (60) in the light of processes of acquiring the three concepts : definition, distinction, and application. The validity of the test has been checked, and even its reliability and the power to discriminate, the difficult level of its items, and the effectiveness of its variables have been checked.After ending the research experiment, the test of acquiring the scientific concepts has been applied for the female students of both (experimental and controlling) groups.Moreover, a statistical treatment for the data has been implemented by using the (t - test) for two independent samples. Consequently, the results have shown the excellence of the experimental group - which has been taught the scientific concepts by using Eshykawa’s Strategy - on the controlling group which has been taught the same concepts but by using the traditional approach. In the light of the results of this study, a number of concluding remarks have been got concerning the results and teaching output when using Eshykawa’s Strategy, and there are related recommendations, then, some suggestion shave been set for future researches in this aspect

It is an interesting media in teaching speaking. It is hybrid between a research paper and an oral presentation. It is visual medium that is used to communicate a key idea related to research. It presents an idea in verbal and graphic ways and a dynamic way to share information in a social context with conference delegates.It combines text, graphs, tables, photos, charts, titles, and brief textual summaries of research information to present work in a way that is visually interesting, accessible, and clarity of content. It allows displaying work to a large group and to talk to and receive feedback from in interest audiences.The study aims at finding out the effect of poster presentation on Iraqi EFL University students' oral performance. It is hypothesized that there are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group which is taught according to poster presentation technique and that of the control group which is taught according to the currently used technique in their oral performance.The procedures undertaken in the present study include choosing a pre - post control group design; selecting a representative sample which has been divided into two groups experimental and control; constructing an oral post test, and securing its validity, reliability and practicality; applying the classroom students - made poster presentation technique on the experimental group, while the control group has been taught conversation by the currently used technique; administering the post test to both groups at the end of the experimental work; collecting , computing and analyzing data by using suitable statistical tools; and The sample of the present study consists of 101 students from the Department of English Language at the College of Education/ Wasit University during the academic year 2014 - 2015. The sample has been distributed into an experimental group of 48 students and a control group of 53 students. Both groups have been equalized in some variables, namely age, gender, parents’ level of education, and the pre test.A post test has been designed and exposed to a jury of experts for the purpose of ascertaining its face validity, while reliability has been ensured by using Person Correlation Formula. Data has been analyzed by using the two independent samples t - test. Results show that there are statistically significant differences between the two groups in their mean score in favor of the experimental group which has been taught by poster presentation. The students of the experimental group are better than those of the control one in their oral performance. This indicates that teaching conversation by using the poster presentation technique is more effective than teaching by the currently used technique method. Based on the present study results, suitable conclusions, recommendations, and several suggestions for further research have been put forward.

Benefit from the goals that have been built in the current research, educational units, they are placed in the book for future editions, service for the student, teacher and reseacher.2. Develop achieved the goals that carries the vertebrae isachieved through a simple content of the book.3. Work on the revision of the content of the book in achieving the goals which have earned the low rates, and did not carry any unrealized paragraph.4. There are goals not find her name and was named variety, it is important to take care of and developed, and put it under the slogan, appear in the goals, so that the teacher of their achievement.5. In order to be integrated educational goals should be added other goals with the objectives referred to in the content.6. Involvement of specialists in social studies teaching methods the process of writing the general educational goals.7. Emphasis on targets that appeared a few percent by the authors.8. Increase topics in all units of the book (geographical - history - National Education) that confirms interest in the scientific article, and the fit and the scientific level of the learner.The researcher came out with a number of proposals are : 1. Investigating the members' answers in the questioning sample as items (indicators) after excluding some of the similar or repeated ones.On that respect, the researcher has concluded the items of the questionnaire in its initiative form, and it includes seven domains as well as (133) items.After checking the reliability and validity, it becomes consisting of (116) items distributed into seven domains/ The objectives domain has five criteria of 21 indicators, The objectives domain has four criteria of 21 indicators, The activity domain has four criteria of 20 indicators/ The evaluation domain includes three criteria and 11 indicators, The preparation and synthesis domain includes two criteria of seven indicators, and The language of the book, and its production domain includes two criteria with twenty two indicators, and finally, The photos and arts domain includes two criteria of 11 indicators.Moreover, the researcher has stated five alternatives for each indicator for the responding person to choose only one alternative; the alternatives are : The first one is (with a very high degree), the second one is (with a high degree), the third one is (with an intermediate degree), the fourth one is (with a low degree), and the fifth one is (with a very low degree).It is worth mentioning that the researcher has used suitable statistical ways throughout the processes of the research, and data treatment for that he has achieved; they are : Pearson correlation cofficient, Fisher formula, and the percentage weight.The researcher has achieved different and various conclusions, from which he has drawn the following points : 1. The Arabic Reading book for the fourth primary class has been the best one among the three books - the questioning sample of the research - for achieving the accepted level of quality criteria.2. The Arabic Language book of the fifth primary class has not been of an accepted and satisfactory level of having the quality criteria; it has achieved the middle level.3. The Arabic Language book of the sixth primary class has not been of quality criteria except in one of the seven domains.In addition, the researcher has stated the following recommendations : 1. Taking into consideration the scientific and technological development when conducting the Arabic Language Textbooks for the three primary levels.2. Improving the Arabic Language textbooks for the three primary stages and developing them in the light of the achievement of this study along with including the quality criteria.3. Achieving balance between the theoretical and practical aspects of the Arabic Language textbooks for the three primary stages.4. Including topics - that make the students aware of their rights and duties - in the Arabic Language textbooks.Consequently, the researcher has suggested adopting the following studies : 1. An evaluating study for the Arabic Language textbooks for the first three primary stages in the light of the quality criteria.2. Abstract: يرمي هذا البحث الى معرفة اثر استراتيجية اليد النشطة في تحصيل مادة الاجتماعيات لدى تلامذة الصف الخامس الابتدائي. ولتحقيق هدف البحث صاغت الباحثة الفرضية الصفرية الاتية : ليس هناك فرق ذو دلالة احصائية عند مستوى دلالة (0,05) بين متوسط درجات تلامذة المجموعة | The present study aims at identifying the Effect of the Hand - on Strategy in the Achievement of Social studies at the Fifth Grade Primary School.To achieve the objective , the researcher formulated null hypotheses : There is no statistically difference significant at the level of (0.05) between the average scores of the experimental group students who have studied by the hand - on strategy and between the average scores of the control group who studied the same material in the traditional method in the achievement.The researcher depend on a partial seizure experimental design a (design of the experimental group and a control group of the post - teat) and the researcher chose the students of the fifth grade from the primary school (Abdull bin Maktoum) a mixed school in one of the Education directorate school / AL - Russafa The second / Baghdad , for the academic year (2014 - 2015) and that for the purpose of application the experiment , the sample consisted of (72) male and female from the fifth grad student , by (36) one in the experiment group that taught according to the Hand - on strategy , and (36) of the student in the control group that they were taught by the traditional method.The researcher equalized between the two groups before starting the experience in some of variables are (pre - knowledge test , the grades of the social studies material for the previous year , IQ level , Academic achievement for the parents , and the age in months) , the material that going to be taught has been identified which included the first chapters of the social studies which included the whale article of the Geography that going to be taught to the Fifth Grad Primary for theyear 2015 , Than the researcher formed the behavioral goals that included (80) behavioral goal in light of the overall goals and according to (Bloom) classification for the knowledge domain of three levels (knowledge , understanding , application). The researcher prepared plans for teaching the subjects that should be taught for the both of the search groups studied , and for the search tool the researcher prepared an Achievement objective test a multiple - choice type that included (30) paragraph according to the map test (table specifications) , and the researcher confirmed from its sincerity and persistence and its psychometric properties. The researcher applied the experience in the first semester of the academic year (2014 - 2015) A.D on Wednesday (29/10/2014) and the experience ended on Monday (12/1/2015) as the researcher applied the achievement post - test , the experiment lasted for 10 week by two lessons per week for each group , and the two groups were taught by the researcher herself. To handling the data statistically the researcher depended the (T - test) and the results showed : There is a statistically difference significant at the level of (0,05) between the average scores of the experimental group students who have studied by the Hand - on strategy and between the average scores of the control group who studied the same material in the traditional method and in the advantage of the experimental group in the achievement. In the light of the outcome the researcher concluded : That the Hand - on strategy has the positive effect in the social studies material with the students of the fifth grade primary , so this strategy is more effective than the traditional method.The researcher recommended a number of recommendations are : 1. Seminar and training courses for the teachers included the subject of the Active Learning strategies included the Hand - on strategy.2. Create the Social studies material according to the Active learning by giving the learners more space for creativity and participation.3. Supplies the Active learning equipment that help the success of the teaching process according to the modern strategies.4. Dependence the Hand - on strategy in the teaching social studies (geography) at the primary school because of its properties and the positive effect in raising the level of achievement.The researcher proposed : 1. Conducting studies that dealing with the Hand - on strategy on a different materials and study stages and its effect on different following like the kinetic intelligence , the retention , and the trend toward the material.2. A study to determine the direction of the teachers about there practicing the Active learning strategies including the Hand - on strategy.

Abstract: يرمي هذا البحث الى تقويم اداء مدرسي الجغرافية للمرحلة المتوسطة على وفق كفايات المدرس الفعال. ولتحقيق هدف البحث اتبعت الباحثة اجراءات المنهج الوصفي المتمثلة باختيار عينة البحث اذ شملت (106) مدرسا ومدرسة لمادة الجغرافية في المرحلة المتوسطة وبنسبة (5%) من مج | The aim of the present study is to evaluate the performance of intermediate school geography teachers according to the efficiencies of the effective teacher. To achieve this aim, the researcher has followed the descriptive research methods by selecting the research sample, male and female geography teachers (106). They form (5%) of the total research population consisting of males (647) and females (1487). They are geography teachers from intermediate schools affiliated to Baghdad directorates of Iraq Ministry of Education. Then, the researcher has made a checklist of the teaching efficiencies of the effective teacher of geography. It includes (42) efficiencies within (4) areas. The validity of the list items has been ensured by a jury of experts in the fields of teaching methodology and measurement and evaluation. The checklist has been used by the researcher when observing the research sample within a period of time extending from 1 December 2015 to 15 March 2016. Inter - rater reliability is established and the degree of agreement is (0.83), (0.81), (0.76), (0.88). For data analysis, the following methods are used : the Fisher formula and Chi - square. The results are as follows : out of (42) efficiencies, (33) are used. The researcher has explained the reasons why (9) efficiencies are not used.Conclusions : 1 - The male and female teachers of Geography have a level of the effective teacher efficiencies that is acceptable according to the educational standards. 2 - The female teachers of Geography have a level of the effective teacher efficiencies higher than that of the male teachers. Recommendations : 1 - It is necessary for the male and female teachers of Geography at the intermediate schools to pay attention to the practical aspects and skills when teaching Geography by using models of instruments and maps and drawing maps.2 - It is necessary for the Ministry of Education to organize courses on the effective teaching efficiencies for the Geography teachers. Suggestions : 1 - Studying the evaluation of the effective teaching efficiencies for the Geography teachers from the perspectives of the Geography supervisors or the school principals. 2 - Studying the effective teaching efficiencies for the Geography teachers in other educational stages.

Abstract: The present study intends to identify the effect of the over lapping waves strategy on the expressive writing of the fifth class literary students. To achieve this, an experimental design of partial accuracy - the control group and the serial post - test have been used. The sample of the study consisted of 65 students of the fifth literary class in AL - Sidddeq Secondary School for Boys/ General Directorate of Education in Babylon.The student were divided into two groups ; 32 students in the experimental group and 33 in the control group. The researcher taught the experimental group according to the over lapping waves strategy and the control group according to the traditional way.Students were matched according to the following variables : chronological age, parents education, the students' final marks of the fourth literary class at the year 2014/2015 , and the test of linguistic knowledge. An attempt was made, then, to control some of the extraneous variables that might effect on the experimental design as showed by some literatures.A questionnaire of 12expressive topics was constructed and submitted to experts in order to choose 6 expressive topics to be used to test students in the expressive test.A standardized tool was used to measure students expressive writing , series of expressive writing tests were made to be applied on the students of the two groups (experimental and control ), The writings were to be scored according to AL - Hashmi soring criteria (1994).Using T - test for independent samples, analysis has yielded the following results : There is a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the experimental group who were taught the expressive writing according to the over lapping waves strategy and that of the control group who were taught the expressive writing according to the traditional method ,This significant is to the experimental group.On the basis of these findings, it is concluded that teaching according to the over lapping waves strategy is so effective in raising the level of the expressive writing of the fifth class literary students.It is recommended that teachers of Arabic should be acquainted with over lapping waves strategy when teaching expressive writing to the students of the preparatory stagy, avoid indoctrination and imposing their ideas and solutions , and help students to attain information by themselves.It is suggested that some of the literatures, concerning the over lapping waves strategy, should be conducted to identify its effect on the expressive writing of students of other stages.

Abstract: يهدف البحث الحالي الى معرفة " اثر الدراما الابداعية في اكتساب المفاهيم العلمية لمادة العلوم عند تلاميذ الصف الخامس الابتدائي " وللتحقق من هدف البحث الحالي صاغ الباحث الفرضية الصفرية الاتية : ? لا يوجد فرق ذو دلالة احصائية عند مستوى دلالة (0.05) بين متوسط | The current research paper aims at identifying the impact of creative drama in acquiring the scientific concepts of sciences among the fifth grade primary school pupils and to verify the aims of the current paper , the researcher has drawn up the following “Null hypothesis” : There is no statistical significant difference upon level (0.05) among the average of school pupils of experimental group who studied according to creative drama in acquiring the scientific concepts for sciences and among the average of marks of control group who studied according to the traditional method. The researcher has conducted the experimental design of partial control (experimental and control ) groups of dimensional testing.In the light of the experimental design , the researcher has selected a random sample of pupils of fifth grade of Al - Shareef Al - Murtadha primary school for boys in Ali - Al - Gharbi province subsidiary to the General Directorate of Maysan Education for the academic year (2016 - 2017) (First Term ) to apply the current paper.The sample of the paper has come to (60) pupils who have been distributed on two grades to represent firstly experimental group and secondly control group.Each group consists of (30) pupils. The researcher has selected randomly section (A) to represent the experimental group and section (B) to represent control group where experimental group has studied the scientific concepts by using the strategy of creative drama and control group studied scientific concepts by using traditional method. The equivalence has been used between the two groups including the following variables (age time by months , intelligence , previous knowledge , parent education).To conduct the experiment , the researcher has specify (20) concepts within three units ( first , second , third) out of the textbook of sciences for fifth grade primary school.The behavioral objectives have been drawn up by three levels of scientific concepts according to processes of its acquisition (concept definition , concept discrimination , concept application). These objectives has come to (60) , the items have come to (60 ) ones , the researcher has made sure of the validity and reliability , measure of coefficient of difficulty of items by using special formulae for each.The researcher also has found the coefficient of test validity by using partial fragmentation and by using Pearson correlation coefficient and it has been corrected by Spareman and Brown. After completing the experiment the scientific concept acquisition test has been used on both groups and the data have been processed statistically by using (T - Test) for two independent samples. The results show that the experimental group has excelled on control group.In the light of the above result , the researcher has come to relevant conclusion , recommendations and suggestions for further reading.

There isno difference statistically significant at the level of (05, 0) between the average of grades of the experimental group students who have studied using the strategy (Listen - Read - discuss) and average of grades of the control group students who have studied by using the traditional method in assimilation. 2. There is no difference statistically significant at the level of (05, 0) between the average of grades of the experimental group students who have studied using the strategy (Listen - Read - discuss) and average of grades of the control group students who have studied by using the traditional method in the retention. In the procedures of the research , the Researcher has depended on experimental design of partial control which is (the design of the experimental group and the control group of post - test) the Researcher has chosen 2nd - stage intermediate students studying in Al - Markaziyah intermediate school / the Directorate of Education inMaysan for the academic year (2015 - 2016) as a sample for his research to make his experience therein. The sample consists of 54 students, chosen randomly, by (32) for the experimental group who has studied in accordance with the strategy (Listen - Read - discuss ), and (22) for the control group students who has studied in accordance with the traditional method equivalence has been conducted between the two groups of research in variables : grades of the subject " History" in the previous year, marks of intelligence test , grades of former knowledge test, education for the father and mother, chronological age measured in months After specifying the subject ( educational material), which included two chapters (I and II) from of the Book of the Arab - Islamic history, the researcher has formulated behavioral objectives, reaching 150 goals, then he has prepared teaching plans in order to achieve what objectives have been formulated , where it is mounted (20) teaching plan for each group , the researcher he has studied the research's two groups throughout the duration of the experiment, which began on 3/11/2015 and ended on 10/1/2016 Researcher has prepared achievement test consisting of (40) objective items of the multi - test on the two groups of the research dated (10/1/2016), then he re - apply the same test after passing (21) days , dated 6.1.2016 ); for measuring the assimilation. After the end of the experiment and carrying out test of assimilation andtest of collection , the researcher has collected data and has analyzed statistically using T - test for two independent samples and results indicated as follows 1. There is statistic difference t at the level of (05, 0) between the average of marks of the experimental group students who have studied by using the strategy (Listen - Read - discuss) and average of marks of the control group students who have studied by using the traditional method , for the benefit of the experimental group in assimilation. 2. There is statistical difference at the level of (05, 0) between the average of marks of the experimental group students who have studied using the strategy (Listen - Read - discuss) and average of marks of the control group students who have studied by using the traditional method for the benefit of experience group in the preceding. The researcher has concluded the most important conclusions : 1. The strategy (Listen - Read - discuss) is of positive impact on assimilating the History for 2nd - stage intermediate students; it is more efficient than the traditional one and maintain 2. The strategy (Listen - Read - discuss) has proven its action and interaction to information for longer time in the mind of the student3. The strategy (Listen - Read - discuss) offers enjoyment to the students during the course of the lesson, which makes them appetite for that. The researcher has recommended a number of recommendations : 1. Clarifying the importance of the use of strategies where the student will be the essential element in the process of learning and also for the teachers via establishing courses by the ministry of education. 2. Abstract: هدف البحث الحالي الى تقويم التدريبات اللغوية في كتب القراءة للمرحلة الابتدائية في العراق في ضوء المعايير اللازمة من وجهة نظر المعلمين والمشرفين الاختصاص، ولتحقيق هدف البحث اتبعت الباحثة المنهج الوصفي، وقد تالف مجتمع البحث من مديريات التربية في بغداد وعدد | Thrown search to "evaluate linguistic exercises in reading books for the primary stage in Iraq in light of the standards required of teachers perspective and supervisors jurisdiction," To achieve the objectives of this research researcher followed the descriptive method consisted research community of teachers and administrators of Arabic in Terpaat Baghdad, and adult of (6) Terpaat, affiliated to the Ministry of Education, either sample was six directorates of the Ministry of Education in Baghdad province, consisting of male and female teachers and supervisors specialization in Arabic language, seen by the researcher on a number of related literature relevant, then prepared a researcher search tool author of a questionnaire which developed the necessary standards for language training, and then presented to the experts and specialists in the Arabic language curricula and methods Tdrceaa, after the researcher data Balastabanh preliminary collected, for as stated in the literature and previous studies, the researcher prepared a final resolution, which has become the standard by which depends on it in achieving the goal of the research, researcher used to manipulate search data methods of statistical and descriptive, benefiting from the use of the weighted measure the achievement of the extent of each criterion, weight percentile to benefit from it in the interpretation of results, and the program statistical package for the Humanities (spss) and including three alternatives (available, available limit what, not available), and then presented to the experts and specialists in the Arabic language curricula and teaching methods reached the proportion of convergent agreement,In light of the search results researcher recommended several recommendations, including increased attention to linguistic exercises when authoring books to read, as well as the need to cover the linguistic training of the subject in reading books for the primary stage, and suggested a complementary study to the study calendar linguistic exercises in reading books at the primary level in Iraq from the perspective of teachers and supervisors jurisdiction

Abstract: يرمي هذا البحث تعرف مستوى مقروئية كتب القراءة العربية للصفوف الثلاثة العليا من المرحلة الابتدائية في العراق، وتعرف ترتيب الموضوعات القرائية على وفق درجة مقروئيتها في كتب القراءة، وتعرف درجة المقروئية على وفق متغير الجنس.ولاجل الوصول الى هذه المرامي | The researchers and educators indicated that there is a weakness in reading in the primary stage so they gave stature to study it in this research which aims at the read ability of Arabic reading textbooks of the high three classes of the Primary stage in Iraq, determining the effect of pupils gender on the degree of readability and to achieve these aims the researcher has chosen randomly (27) different topics to pick from the textbooks of Arabic for the high three classes of the primary stage.Nine reading topics from each textbook is the sample of the research.These topics are taken from the beginning, middle and the end of the textbooks. For the sake of measuring the readability of the reading topics. The researcher has prepared (27)test of a (cloze) type, she did that by deleting the word of fifth arrangement from each topic of the research sample topics. The average of the topic length is fifty word and the number of the deleting words from each topic is ten words.After achieving the validity and reliability they have been applied to a random sample that consist of (650) male and female (348) male and (302) female who are distributed on six directorate in Baghdad governorate. Two schools for boys, two schools for girls and one school (mixed for girls and boys) from each of the six directorates.After analyzing the results of the (cloze) test by using the statistical means. It is found that : 1 - The degree of the readability of Arabic reading of the fourth primary class is (2.80),for the fifth class is (4.25) and for the sixth class is (5.03)2 - The majority of the pupils performance in the (cloze) test falls in the bad level and about 1/4 in the teaching level and a small ratio is in the readability level.3 - The reading topics in the textbooks of Arabic reading for the high three classes of the primary stage are not graded according to the degree of their readability.4 - There is a difference of statistical significance among the degree of the readability reading topics according to the difference in the pupils gender and for the sake of girls.From previous results , it is concluded that the reading topics in the textbooks of the Arabic reading for high three classes of the primary stage in Iraq are not suitable for pupils levels. The researcher has explained this result by many reasons, some of them are related to the pupils and others the reading topics themselves.In the light of the research results, the researcher has recommended many recommendations for example to limit the degree of readability of the school textbooks in general and especially the reading textbooks before generalizing them to pupils by using one of the methods of measurement of readability such as (cloze) test. The researcher has suggested to make further studies as a complement of this research in this vital field which still needs more studies and investigations.
