Abstract:
تقدم الدراسة الحالية تحليلا نصيا للجمل المضمنة التي يستعملها كتاب المقالات الصحفية. تعد الصحف واحدة من اهم اوجه اللغة التي تتناول العديد من جوانب الحياة - السياسية والاقتصادية والعلمية - لذلك من المهم ان تعد التقارير الاخبارية بشكل واضح ومختصر ومثير للاهتمام. اختيرت تسع مقالات من ثلاث صحف بريطانية هي الغارديان والاندبيندنت والتلغراف لغرض تحليلها. الهدف من هذه الدراسة هو التحقق فيما اذا كانت الجمل المضمنة تعد من خصائص المقالات الصحفية ، وهل تساعد في تحقيق التماسك النصي الذي يعد ضروريا لاية مقالة لتكون واضحة ومؤثرة. بالاضافة الى ذلك، تهدف الدراسة الى التعرف على الانواع الثلاثة من" التضمين" التي هي : الاسهاب والتوسيع والتعزيز،كما اقترحها (هاليدي, 1994) وتحديد اي نوع هو السائد في هذه المقالات.وبما ان مفهوم "التضمين" يغطي انواعا عديدة فقد اقتصرت الدراسة الحالية على تلك العبارات والجمل المضمنة التي ورد ذكرها في (ﭽوكر ووينر 1994) , على النحو الاتي : ا. جملة الصلة التعريفية ب. جملة البدل التعريفية ج. جملة البدل غير التعريفية (د) الجملة الاسمية (فاعلا كانت ام مفعولا به)(ه) عبارة الجر (التي اصلها جملة صلة)(و) العبارة الاسمية الحاوية على التضمين يعد مفهوم التضمين احد خصائص التقارير الاخبارية حيث يستعمل الكتاب الجمل التي تحتوي على هذا المفهوم لعرض المعلمومات بصورة منطقية وموجزة , لان الجمل المضمنة تساعد الكتاب في تقديم مقالات واضحة، ومختصرة ومثيرة للاهتمام. وفي النهاية يتحقق الغرض المطلوب من اللغة الا وهو تماسك النص وترابطه. تقع الدراسة الحالية في فصول خمسة وملحق واحد يحتوي على المقالات التي جرى تحليلها. الفصل الاول هو فصل تمهيدي يعرض مشكلة الدراسة واهدافها وفرضياتها. كما يتطرق الى الاجراءات المعتمدة في الدراسة وحدودها واهميتها. الفصل الثاني يحتوي على عرض نظري للموضوع قيد الدراسة ويقدم تعريفات لبعض المفاهيم الاساسية مثل الرتبة والتكرارية والتضمين والنص، وكيف تؤثر على كتابة اي نص , كما يسلط الضوء على مختلف انواع الجمل، مع التركيز على الجملة المعقدة وهيكلها كونها تحتوي على الجمل المضمنة.الفصل الثالث يتناول تاريخ الصحف وكذلك لغة المقالات الصحفية واسلوبها. الفصل الرابع يحتوي على النموذج المعتمد في التحليل، وهو النموذج الذي اقترحه (هاليدي,1994) ويشتمل على ثلاثة انواع من التضمين، هي الاسهاب, والتوسيع والتعزيز, مع الاشارة الى انواع الجمل المضمنة التي ذكرها (ﭽوكر ووينر 1994)الفصل الخامس يتضمن عرضا للنتائج التي توصلت اليها الدراسة وبعض المتقرحات لمواضيع اخرى يمكن ان تكون نقاط بحث في المستقبل , كما يقدم بعض المضامين التي لها علاقة بالجانب التعليمي. وقد اظهرت الدراسة ان الجمل المسهبة هي النوع السائد في مقالات الصحف التي حللت، مما يدل على ان الجمل المضمنة تستعمل من اجل الاسهاب في معنى الجملة الرئيسة اما باعادة صياغتها او اضافة وصف جديد لها. | The current study presents a textual analysis of embedded clauses used by writers of newspaper articles. Since newspapers are regarded as one of the most important aspects of language that tackle different aspects of life - political, economic or scientific, there is a need for news reporting to be clear, economical, and interesting. Nine articles from three British online newspapers have been selected for analysis. The three newspapers are : The Guardian, The Telegraph, and The Independent. The goal of the study is to explore whether embedded clauses are considered features of newspaper articles, and whether these clauses help newspaper articles to achieve 'textual cohesion', which is necessary for any article to be clear and effective. Additionally, the study aims at investigating the three types of 'embedding', namely elaborating, extending and enhancing, which are proposed by Halliday (1994) and determining which type is the predominant one in these articles. As the concept of embedding is invoked in a wide variety of constructions, the present analysis will be limited to those clauses and phrases that come under the heading of embedding in Chalker and Weiner (1994). Embedding is a characteristic feature of news reporting and writers usually use embedded clauses to present and organize information logically. These clauses help writers to produce articles that are clear, short, and interesting. Additionally, writers depend heavily on the reduced form to pack information and propose it economically. As a result, the cohesion condition is achieved, eventually leading to the 'textual function' of the language. This study consists of five chapters and one appendix with the texts of the analysed articles.Chapter One is an introductory chapter which specifies the nature of the problem investigated, the aims and hypotheses of the study. It also defines the procedures adopted and the scope and significance of the study. Chapter Two contains a theoretical background of the subject under investigation and offers definitions of some key concepts such as 'rank', 'embedding', 'recursion', etc. It also sheds light on the various types of sentences, focusing on the complex sentence and its structure insofar as embedding is concerned. Chapter Three deals with the history of newspapers and the language and style of newspaper articles. It also investigates some of the characteristics of a newspaper article. Chapter Four describes the model adopted, i.e. Halliday's (1994) model of the three types of embedding, namely elaboration, extending, and enhancing. It also discusses the structures of the embedded clauses as presented by Chalker and Weiner (1994). In Chapter Five the findings of the study are presented and some topics for further research are suggested. Some recommendations for pedagogical purposes are also given. The study has shown that elaborating clauses are the predominant type that occurs in the analysed newspaper articles. This suggests that embedded clauses are usually used to expand the meaning of the main clause by providing further characterization of it, restating it, or adding more description to it
