Abstract: ان الدراسة الجارية تضمنت بحث بعض معايير الاكسدة ومضادات الاكسدة oxidant - antioxidant parameters)) وعزل mt - DNA لغرض تعيين الجين المشفر للانزيم cytochrome - oxidase - C لدى الرجال المدخنين المصابين بفرط الكريات الحمر polycythemia)). كان العدد الكلي لا شخاص الدراسة120 رجلا , كان منهم 60 رجلا مدخنا مصابا بفرط الكريات الحمر اما العدد الباقي 60) رجلا( فقد كانوا اصحاء وغير مدخنين وقد استخدموا كمجموعة سيطرة (control). تراوحت جميع اعمار اشخاص الدراسة بين30 سنه الى 60 سنه تم تقسيم جميع اشخاص الدراسة(اصحاء ومرضى) الى ثلاثة مجاميع عمرية وكالاتي؛ المجموع الاولى (30 - 39 سنه) ؛المجموعة الثانية (40 - 49سنه) المجموعة الثالثة(50 - 59سنه). تميز جميع المرضى في هده الدراسة بارتفاع معنوي (p<0.05 ) في قيم حجم الخلايا المضغوط pcv)) عند مقارنتهم مع الاشخاص الاصحاء وقد لوحظ حصول ارتباط ايجابي (r=0.8) بين قيم pcv ومعدل العمر. اما بخصوص بروكسيدات الدهون lipid peroxidation)) فقد سجل مركب malondialdehyde ( وهو دليل واضح لا كسدة الدهون) ارتفاع واضح (p<0.05 ) لدى كل مجاميع المرضى عند مطابقتهم مع الاشخاص الاصحاء . وقد سجلت قيمه ارتباطا ايجابيا مع كل من العمر (r=0.4) ومستوى ال .(r=0.4) PCV وبشان معايير مضادات الاكسدة(Anti - oxidants) فقد اشرت قيم الكلوتاثيون المختزل (GSH) وهو مضاد اكسده غير انزيمي ) انخفاضا معنويا p<0.05) ) لدى المجاميع الثلاثة للاشخاص المدخنين عندما قورنوا مع الاشخاص الاصحاء. كدلك سجلت قيمة ارتباطا عكسيا مع كل من العمر (r= - 0.2 )و قيم ال PCV (r= - 0.9).اعطت قيم فعالية الكاتليز (catalase activity) انخفاضا معنويا p<0.05) ) لدى جميع الفئات العمرية للاشخاص المدخنين بالمقارنة مع الاشخاص الاصحاء. كدلك سجلت قيم فعالياته ارتباطا عكسيا مع كل من العمر (r= - 0.2)و قيم ال PCV (r= - 0.9).وبشان قيم فعاليات انزيم superoxide dismutase فقد تبين كدلك حصول انخفاضا ملحوظ p<0.05) ) لكل الفئات العمرية للاشخاص المدخنين المصابين بفرط الكريات الحمراء عندما مقارنتهم مع الاشخاص الاصحاء. وتبين حصول ارتباط عكسي بين فعاليات SOD وكل من العمر (r= - 0.5)و PCV (r= - 0.5).نتائج الدراسة الحالية اثبتت بان التدخين وفرط كريات الدم الحمراء ليس لها تاثيرات على الجين المشفر ل cytochrome oxidase c1و الموجودة على DNA المايتوكوندريا باستخدام تقنية الPCR ومن النتائج الموضحة في اعلاه؛ فان الايضاح المدون لهده التغيرات يمكن اعزاءه الى العدد الهائل من الكريات الدم الحمراء ونواتج التدخين السامة والتي يمكن ان تسبب انخفاض جميع فعاليات مضادات الاكسدة وزيادة بيروكسيد الدهون وعلاوة على دلك؛ يلعب العمر دورا كبيرا في خفض فعاليات مضادات الاكسدة وزيادة بيروكسيد الدهون. | The current study was involved to investigate some oxidant - antioxidants parameters and isolation of mt - DNA for cytochrome c - 1 oxidase gene of smoker men affected with polycythemia . One hundered twenty (120) men were recruited in this study ,of them, sixty (60) smoker men affected with polycythemia and the remaining number (60) men were healthy men and serves as control group in this study . all ages of the enrolled subjects were limited between 30 - 60 years old .According to their ages, they were classified into three groups, first group(30 - 39 years old),second group(40 - 49 years old), and third group(50 - 59 years old). All patients included in this study have packed cell volume (PCV) higher than of their healthy counter parts and showed significant increase (p<0.05) when compared with healthy control men. Moreover, levels of PCV have a positive correlation (r=0.8) with advanced ages. concerning lipid peroxidation, malondialdehyde (MDA)as markers of lipid peroxidation was used, an its results revealed a significant increase (p<0.05) in all groups of smokers' polycythemic men and also showed a positive correlation with age (r=0.4) and PCV(r=0.4) Regarding markers of antioxidants, results of reduced glutathione (GSH) non - enzymatic antioxidants, were significantly decreased (p<0.05) in all tested groups in compared with those control group. it was found that results of GSH proportionate inversely with age (r= - 0.2) and PCV(r= - 0.9). About catalase activity , results of its activity indicated a marked decrease (p<0.05) in three age groups of smokers' polycythemic men in a comparison with control groups . the activity of catalase pointed out a negative correlation with both age and PCV(r= - 0.3 ,r = - 0.6 respectively) Serum superoxide dismutase (SOD)activity were also significantly decrease (p<0.05) in all age groups of smokers' polycythemic men when compared with those control group .The SOD activities were inversely proportionated with age and PCV(r= - 0.5, r= - 0.5, respectively). results of the present study confirmed that the smoking and polycythemia have not effects on cytochrome oxidase C1 gene of mt - DNA by using PCR technique. Finally, according to correct study that mentioned above the possible explanation to these findings can be showed that high PCV and toxic materials produced by smoking can be implicated with drop of antioxidant activities with increase lipid peroxidation. Abstract: اجريت الدراسات الحالية في محافظة بابل في الفترة من تشرين الاول 2015 الى حزيران 2016 وذلك لتحديد مدى ارتباط نقص بعض العناصر النزرة مثل مستوى الزنك والحديد والنحاس والكالسيوم في مصل الدم فضلا عن تركيز الهيموغلوبين في الدم للاطفال والنساء الحوامل المراجعين لمستشفى بابل للنسائية والاطفال وبعض العيادات الخارجية والذين يمارسون التغذية على مواد غير غذائية ومقارنتها مع عينات من اشخاص لا يمارسون هذه الظاهرة (مجموعه السيطرة) .وبلغ عدد الاطفال الذين شملتهم الدراسة (350) طفلا تراوحت اعمارهم مابين (ثمانيه اشهر - خمسة سنوات). اما عدد النساء الحوامل اللواتي شملتهن الدراسة فقد بلغ (130) امراة. وقد تم اجراء استبيان لجميع الاشخاص الذين شملتهم الدراسة تضمنت العمر والجنس ونوع المواد غير الغذائية المتناولة ومستوى التعليم والسكن وغيرها لبيان مدى ارتباط تلك العوامل بانتشار ظاهرة اضطراب الطعام (pica) . وايضا شملت الدراسة اجراء مقارنة بين قوانص مجموعتين من الطيور الداجنة (الدجاج المنزلي ) احداهما يعيش بصورة حرة والاخرى مرباة في حقول مغلقة لبيان مدى تاثير ظاهرة اضطراب الطعام (pica) على تركيب النسيج المبطن للقوانص وقد اظهرت نتائج الدراسة الاتي : اولا : محور الاطفال• ان الشكل الشائع لظاهرة اضطراب الطعام في الاطفال هو Geophagia اي اكل التربة وبنسبه 67%• بلغت نسبة الاطفال الذين يمارسون ظاهرة اضطراب الطعام 57.14 % من مجموع الاطفال الذين شملتهم الدراسة .• اظهرت النتائج الحاليه بان معدل نسبه الزنك الكليه في الاطفال اللذين يمارسون ظاهرة اضطراب الطعام تكون منخفضه (81.42±35.40) مايكروغرام/ديسلتر بالمقارنه مع (88.83±15.17) مايكروغرام /ديسلتر للاطفال الاصحاء (P>0.01) .و اظهرت النتائج وجود ارتباط معنوي ايجابي بين مستوى الزنك في مصل الدم ومستوى الهيموغلوبين في الدم (r=0.5) لدى الاطفال المصابين ب Pica.• بلغت نسبة الحديد الكلية للاطفال اللذين يمارسون اضطراب الطعام(38.16±23.91) مايكروغرام/ديسلتر بالمقارنة مع (76.96±15.76) مايكروغرام/ديسلتر للاطفال الاصحاء ولوحظ وجود ارتباط معنوي بين مستوى الحديد في مصل الدم ومستوى الهيموغلوبين في الدم(r=0.7) في الاطفال اللذين يمارسون اضطراب الطعام.• بلغ المعدل الكلي لنسبة الكالسيوم في مصل الدم لدى الاطفال الذين يمارسون اضطراب الطعام(7.72±3.52) ملغم/ديسلتر بالمقارنه مع (9.18±1.34) ملغم/ديسلتر للاطفال الاصحاء ولوحظ كذلك وجود ارتباط معنوي بين مستوى الكالسيوم في مصل الدم ومستوى الهيموغلوبين في الدم(r=0.65) عند الاطفال المصابين ب Pica.• وجد بان هنالك ارتفاعا معنويا في مستوى النحاس في مصل الدم لدى الاطفال الذين يمارسون اضطراب الطعام(27.82±39.68) مايكروغرام/ديسلتر بالمقارنه مع الاطفال الاصحاء(46.58±15.05) مايكروغرام/ديسلتر ووجد بان الارتباط مابين مستوى النحاس في مصل الدم ومستوى الهيموغلوبين في الدم ضعيف لكلا المجموعتين من الاطفال(الاطفال المصابين والاطفال الاصحاء).ثانيا / محور النساء الحوامل • شملت مواد اضطراب الطعام التي تميل النساء لتناولها على الثلج والتربة اذ كانت اعلى نسبة هي نسبة الثلج 46% تليها 42% و12% للتربة والثلج والتربة معا على التوالي .• بلغت نسبة النساء اللواتي يمارسن ظاهرة اضطراب الطعام 38.46% من مجموع اعداد النساء اللواتي شملتهن الدراسة .• اكدت الدراسة وجود تاثير معنوي لعامل فترة الحمل اذ بلغ معدل انتشار ظاهرة اضطراب الطعام 56% خلال الثلث الاول من الحمل بالمقارنة مع 30% و8% و6% خلال الثلث الثالث والثلث الثاني وخلال فترة الحمل باكملها على التوالي (P>0.05).• اظهرت الدراسة الحالية وجود انخفاض معنوي في معدل نسبة الكاليسيوم في مصل النساء المصابات اذ بلغ 8.47 ملغم/ديسلتر بالمقارنة مع 9.06 ملغم/ديسلتر في مجموعة السيطرة (P>0.05).ثالثا\ محور الحيوان• كانت طبقه الكولين المبطنه لقوانص الدجاج المرباة بصورة حرة اكثر سمكا من تلك المرباة في حقول مغلقه.• السطح العلوي للخلايا المكونه للغدد الفارزة لمادة الكولين في الطبقة المخاطية تكون مفككة وغير منتظمة في الدجاج المرباة بصورة حرة في حين كانت تلك الخلايا غير مفككة ومنتظمة في الدجاج المرباة في حقول مغلقه | The present study was carried out in Babylon Province during the period from October 2015 till June 2016 in order to determine the prevalence of pica in children and pregnant women who visited Babylon hospital for children and women and clinics of some specialist physicians in hillah center .Association of pica with deficiency of some trace elements such as zinc, iron, copper and calcium in blood serum and hemoglobin concentration in the blood of the patient who practice pica and those of no pica ,where calculated too.The total number of children's included in the present study was 350 child, with age ranged from less than one year up to six years old. Total number of pregnant women included in the present study was 130 women personal information such as age, sex, residence, habits of eating non - food substance , educational level and standard of living of studied person were interviewed using a questionnaire sheets , in order to determine these association with pica. The adverse effect of pica on structure of tissues lining the inner part of gizzards of two group of domestic chickens, one kept feeding freely in open farm ,the other kept feeding under controlled conditions was studied, too. The results showed the following : 1 - pica in children's - The most common form of pica in children is geophagia in percentage 67% - The percentage of children's practicing pica in Babylon Provence was 57.14%. - Mean plasma zinc in children with pica was significantly lower(81.42±35.40 mg\dl) than those with no pica (88.83±15.17 mg\dl) (P>0.01) , and there was a significantly a positive correlation between zinc level in blood serum and the level of hemoglobin in blood (r=0.5) in children with pica. - Mean plasma iron level in children with pica was also much lower(38.16±23.91 mg\dl) than those of no pica (76.96±15.76mg\dl). And there was a significantly correlation between iron level in serum blood and hemoglobin level in blood (r=0.7) in children with pica. - Mean plasma calcium level in children with pica was(7.72±3.524 mg\dl) which significantly lower than those with no pica(9.18±1.34 mg\dl).and there was a significantly correlation between calcium level in blood serum and hemoglobin level in blood(r= 65) in children with pica. - In contrast mean plasma copper level in pica children was significantly higher (82.27±39.68 mg\dl) than those of no pica (46.58±15.08 mg\dl).and there was weak correlation between copper level in blood serum and hemoglobin level in blood in both groups of children (patient and control group). 2 - pica in pregnant women - The most common forms of pica practiced by pregnant women were ice(46%) ,soil(42%) and soil and ice(12%). - The prevalence of pica in pregnant women in Babylon provence was 38.46% of the total number of women included in this study. - The highest percentage of pica in pregnant women recorded in the 1st trimester (56%)as compared with 30% ,8% ,6% ,in the 2 nd, 3 rd, and whole pregnancy period , respectively. - There was a significant decrease in the mean plasma calcium level of pica women as compared with 9.06% in the non - pica children.3 - Pica in Animals - The thickness of kolin layer of gizzard of chickens reared in an open field much more than those reared in closed system. - The upper layer of the cells that makes the koilin excretory glands in the mucosa layer was disassembled in the gizzard of chickens which were reared freely in the farm, However , those of the chickens reared in the close farm system, were assembled
