المستخلص: Directional couplers can be used to make important planar optical integrated circuits for optical communications, such as Mach - zehnder interferometers and wavelength division multiplexers. Wavelength division multi/demultiplexing of optical signals is an efficient means to increase the information density per fiber.Both the coupled mode theory and the FD numerical method are used in this study to analyze multiwaveguide DCs.In this thesis, we present an analytical expression for crosstalk of MWGDC based on relationship between the normal modes and local modes, where these modes are obtained numerically using FD mothed.Also, the mode field profile and their evolution along the structure are presented through the analytical expression and calculated numerically using FD method. With the help of this analytical expression, the input power can be controlled to be enter from a chosen hannel. This enable us to calculate the crosstalk that corresponds to a certain input channel.The transmission characteristics of a four channel multiplexer based on three MZI can be described in terms of the propagation matrices. In this study, the coupling coefficient of DC and the phase shift of MZI are treated to be wavelength dependent parameters. Crosstalk introduced by such process are also calculated.The transmission characteristics of three arm MZI as a DWDM is investigated theoretically by deriving the propagation matrix of 3WGDC using coupled mode theory. Thus, two parameters are introduced,  and  , as a designing controlling parameters for DWDM devices. By adjusting these parameters a DW DM devices can be presented.

المستخلص: In equals weight percent age adding to them the organic dyes ,crystal violet (CV) and natural red dye (NR) were applied as indicator in bioapplication in percentage weight (10% ,20% ,30% ,40% ,50%) thin films were prepration by to methods, firest by spin coating to optical properties and cast methods to electrical properties thin films characterization by FTIR to estimated the functional groups forPU and dyes , were the charts indicated the reaction between the PU and NR , while the mix between PU and CV are polymer compositen TO study the crystallinty of thin films we are use the XRD , the result shows amorphas structers Optical properties were studies in wavelength range (300 - 900 nm) , and From absorption and transmittance spectra we are estimated some optical Parameters like the absorption coeffici ent (α) The thin films have Sharpe absorption edge and the indirect transition while Direct transition to percentage (40% , 50%) the indirect transition to PU/NR Thin films the energy gap increasing with increase the wight percentage to To PU/CV while decreasing to PU/NR thin films and the values (1.53 - 1.93eV ) , (1.83 - 1.78eV ) respectively . Urbach energy (Eu) were also calculated and increasing the value of urbach States with increase the weight percentage for all thin films prepared . TheSome optical parameters can be calculated such as extication coefficient (K) And refractive index (n) , the real and imaginary parts(1,2 ) and the optical, Electrical conductivities (opt ,e ) as function to photon energy . W - D model adopted to estimated some optical paramters such as ( λο , N/mο , Sο , e ,eo , nο , M - 3 , M - 1 , Eο ,Ed ) All parameters tabulated , the PU/CV were more response from the PU/NR Electrical conductivity studies for thin films prepared by al (PU/CV) , (PU/NR)/AL and from measuring the current - olage / Al Characterization we calculated the electrical conductivity and activation energy accompanying electrical conductance operation and the value were (610 - 10 - 1.210 - 8 S/cm ) , (0.84 - 0.57eV ) ,(210 - 12 - 8.3510 11 S/cm ) ,(0.46 - 0.56eV ) respectively . We can see the conductivity value for PU/CV larger than the value of PU/NR and with increase and decrease because these related to the mix and Time preparation of PU/CV and PU/NR and the final is reaction between PU and NR dye not physical mix

المستخلص: In this thesis, an equation of atmospheric turbulence factor were derived the effect of such factor of the laser beam path of Er - Glass laser of ( 1.54m)wavelength. The results were copared at distances and propagation modes of laser beam in the atmosphere. Analysis system was used to determining the effect of atmospheric turbulent parameters, which are : laser beam radius at transmitter Wo, turbulent factor turb τ and intensity correction at target surface Pshape . And received power at photo detector for laser range finder LRF, additional study of effect the variation of refractive index strcture paramete 2 n c , inner - scale turbulence l , and the aperture dimension of photo receiver rec. r on the values and shape of receiving power, according the signal to noise ratio SNR equation , maximum range of the LRF in different weather conditions and compared with the results of the international literatures. New equation of Gaussian beam for calculation the efficiency of LRF system performance in the turbulent medium. Analytical comparsion for power and range calculations from the concluded equation of the Gaussian beam which take into consideration the effect of the turbulent attenuation in the range calculation, A special equation for power shift in the different two cases, which are in the present and absent of turbulence.A partical addition to this study, the weather elements are measured in to the Basrah city atmosphere locally with the maximum range Rmax for the LRF in the two different season summer and winter.An equation of receiving rangeof laser target designator system LTD using Lambert function is estimated and compared its results with concluded equation of recent researches. MATLAB - 7 sorces code program were written to declare the effect of turbulent parameters on ranging and disgnation calculations, also describe the effect of the laser beam power variation in range calculations. The ideas and results of this study are used to design an LRF and LTD in different weather conditions and alternative weather turbulent variance.

المستخلص: The present thesis Conducts polymer (polyaniline) doped with Dodycyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid (DBSA) was prepared by chemical polymerization and with the help of ammonium persulphat (NH4)2S2O8 as oxidizing agent.Multi well carbon tubes MWNTs are ultrasonically treated with strong acide using a 3 : 1 mixture of concentrated H2SO4 and HNO3, producing carboxylic groups c - MWNTs .Nanocomposite conducting polymers PANIDBSA/ MWCNTs was prepared with adding different weight ratios (0%,1%,2%,3%,5%)(MWNCTs to PANI - DBSA). Accordingly, films of these nanocomposite polymer were prepared by spin coating technique .To study the optical properties, these films were deposited on glass, and on interdigitated finger electrode for the - electrical properties.The chemical structure of the prepared polymers PANI - DBSA, c - MWNCT and PANI - DBSA/MWCNTs are characterized by the FTIR spectra .The results indicated an appearance of functional group of doping with DBSA and MWNCTs changed to c - MWNCTs.The structure of preparation films are characterized by X - RAD diffraction .The results show crystalline peaks partial crystallinity of the PANI - DBSA/MWNCTs. The grain size of polymer was calculated by Scherrer relation.Morphologies and diameters of the nanocomposite were studied by Atom ic Force Microscope(AFM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The average diameters of nanocomposite change between (81 - 118) nm and the roughness increased with increasing of MWNCTs in nanocomposite. Ology and the thickness were measured by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).The result shows the polymer covered MWNCT.The optical properties of preparation film were studied from absorbance spectra at wave - lengths of (300 - 1100 nm). The analyses of optical measurement shows direct transition with energy gap decreasing increases MWNCTs about(3.4 - 1.9) eV. The reflection spectrum is analysed to find same optical constant like extension coefficient and refraction coefficient.The electric conductivity was measured and it was found that the thin films correlate with the ohmic behaviour at voltage under 10V.The electricalconductivity increases as the ratios of MWNCTs increases in PANIDBSA/ MWNCTs nanocomposite from(6.17x10 - 3 S/cm ) at 0wt% to (1.12x10 - 1 ????/cm ) at 5wt% .The effect of temperature on the electric conductivity of all ratios of thenanocompositesare also studied. The resultindicated the activationenergy decrease as MWNCTs increase from 0.15 at (0wt %) to 0.05 at (5wt %).In electronic applications of nanocomposite conducting polymers solar cell,two kinds of solar cells (ITO/TiO2/PANI - DBSA/MWCNTs/C/ITO ) and (ITO/TiO2/PANI - DBSA/MWCNTs/dye/C/ITO) were fabricated. The currentvoltage characteristics are measured at light source 100mw/cm2.The solar cell parameter like open circuit voltage VOC ,short circuit current JSC, shunt resistance RSh, series resistance RS, full factor FF, and efficiency η, are calculated. The efficiency of solar cell at different ratios of MWNCTs in PANI - DBSA/MWNCT were calculated. The result indicated that the efficiency increased as MWNCTs increase. The efficiency of solar cells also increases with adding dye.

المستخلص: This study was carried out to investigate the relationships between the T2DM patients and the genotypes of glutathione S - transferase P1, and the measurements of blood serum lipid profile of patients and control. The study included 60 blood samples from patients and 40 blood sample from controls of Iraqi individuals. The sixty individual with T2DM were diagnosed according to the American diabetes Association criteria (American diabetes Association, 2007), their age ranged were between 35 - 75 years randomly selected from those attending the Diabetes Center /Al - Moanaa Hospital for treatment with history of hyperlipidemia and hypertension. Sera and blood were used as sample, The measured parameters in serum included (Biochemical testes) : Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG), Total Cholesrtol (TC), Triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL), High density lipoprotein (HDL), Very high density lipoprotein (VLDL). In Addition to Body Mass Index (BMI) .Moreover, the correlation between genotyping of glutathione S - transferase P1 and all studied parameters was carried out. Molecular studies involved DNA extraction and Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) - Retraction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). to investigate the genetic polymorphism of glutathione S - transferase pi gene class for individuals of this study .Molecular study was conducted in the laboratory of molecular Biology, Department of Biology for pure Sciences college at Basra University .The result showed that Sex, BMI, HDL, LDL and VLDL values for patients and control were not significant while for the level of FBG in patients and control it showed significantly difference (P=0.000). This study revealed significant Positive Correlation between cholesterol and triglyceride (P=0.01). while the Correlation coefficient between Triglyceride & HDL,VLDL individually also between HDL and LDL ,VLDL and LDL with VLDL individually was not significant furthermore FBG and Cholesterol showed positive significant Correlation .The result of genetic polymorphism of GSTPI distribution among studied groups showed rise developing risk of Type 2 Diabetes in patients about 2 - fold in carries heterozygous Ile/Val genotype with an ( OR=2.90; 95% Cl= 1.077 - 7.827, p=0.31) and allele frequency 0.69.,and there is an increased risk of Type 2 Diabetes in patients about 2and half - fold in carries of The homozygous Val/Val genotype in patients with an (OR=2.58, 95%CI=0.625 - 10.662, p=0.171). the heterozygote distribution (2Pq ) of Patients was 0.427 while in control 0.268 and it was not stable according to Hardy - Winderg question.According to data mentioned above the GSTPI genotype polymorphism may play an important role in the pathogenesis of T2DM while its effect on all lipid profile indicator did not show any significant difference.

المستخلص: The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of the growth regulators 2, 4 - D; Dicamba and NAA on the induction of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) primary callus Hillawii cv., by analyzing morphological, biochemical; anatomical and molecular responses. Three concentration of 2, 4 - D (10; 50 and 100 mg/L), Dicamba (1; 5 and 10 mg/L) and 30 mg/L of NAA were examined during the course of this study. in addition, several antimicrobial agents were selected to evaluate their morphological and biochemical impacts on the primary callus of date palm including the antibiotics (Gentamycin 50 mg/L and Chloramphenicol 50 and 100 mg/L), as well as, the fungicides (Switch 1 g/L and Beltanol 1 ml/L), After induction of the primary callus from each treatments, the following results were obtained : 1. The results showed that the treatments with 2, 4 - D at 10 mg/L and Dicamba at 1 and 5 mg/L did not stimulate any callus growth over the time of incubation on MS medium.2. It was evident that the treatments of different growth regulators have a significant effect on the initial period (day) for callus initiation, the shortest period have been obtained with the low concentration of 2, 4 - D (50 mg/L) and Dicamba (10 mg/L) which were 67.57 and 66.75 days, respectively, while the high concentration of 2, 4 - D (100 mg/L) led to increase this period significantly up to 120 days.3. Both fresh and dry weight of date palm primary callus decreased significantly at the treatment of high concentration of 2, 4 - D (100 mg/L) up to two folds compared to the treatment at low concentration of 2, 4 - D (50 mg/L), similar trend of results were found with browning percentage and intensity.4. Biochemical analysis of produced date palm primary callus revealed that the high concentration of 2, 4 - D (100 mg/L) led to a significant increase in the total content of carbohydrates; Proline, Peroxidase activity and Phenolic compounds which considered as a stress indicators, and another decrease of total soluble proteins and free amino acids was accompanied with this treatment compared to the same growth regulator at low concentration and Dicamba treatments.5. Anatomical study revealed that asignificant damage was caused by the high concentration of 2, 4 - D (100 mg/L) on date palm primary callus, this damage was evident from the abundant and distribution of tannins compounds across the primary callus tissues, thus, was accompanied with high percent of browning, compared with the treatments of 2, 4 - D at low concentration, Dicamba and NAA.6. The analysis of Protein profile revealed the similarity between the patterns of control treatment (juvenile leaf of Hillawii cv.) and 2, 4 - D at low concentration, as well as, Dicamba. Similarity indices results for protein profile of date palm primary callus proved the genetic similarity of 100% between control treatment and both 2, 4 - D (50 mg/L) and Dicamba ones, while, the lowest similarity percentage was observed with high concentration of 2, 4 - D (100 mg/L).7. The results of RAPD marker analysis of the extracted genomic DNA form date palm primary callus using four deca oligonucleotide primers showed the efficiency of three primers (OPAR3; OPAR8 and P.650) in their amplification of examined DNA,. RAPD profile revealed an identical matching between control treatment and 2, 4 - D at low concentration, followed by Dicamba and NAA auxins, while, the increasing in 2, 4 - D concentration up to 100 mg/L led to disappearance and the appearance of new DNA bands compared to control treatment, with a highest genetic distance among other treatments.Similarity coefficient analysis showed that the highest genetic similarities were found between control treatment and 2, 4 - D (50 mg/L) with similarity index of 96% , followed by Dicamba and NAA treatments with indices of 74 and 66%, respectively, the lowest similarity index was obtained between control and 2, 4 - D at high concentration which was 27%.8. The screening results of antimicrobial agents showed that the treatment with Switch fungicide (1 g/L) and Gentamycin antibiotic ( 50 mg/L) did not stimulate any callus growth over the time of incubation on MS medium supplemented with either 2, 4 - D or Dicamba.9. Beltanol fungicides (1 ml/L) treatment had a negative effect on the initiated primary callus either by 2, 4 - D or Dicamba, its treatment led to a high significant reduction in total solubleprotein and free amino acid content compared to control results, while an increase of total carbohydrates, Phenolic compounds, Proline and Peroxidase activity was detected with Beltanol fungicide.10. The Chloramphenicol treatment at low concentration (50 mg/L) showed positive results on the growth of primary callus at 2, 4 - D or Dicamba auxins according to morphological and biochemical analysis.

المستخلص: This thesis is concerned with the synthesis and characterization of two new series : 1. A series of heterocyclic compounds which have been prepared from the reaction of urea, thiourea , hydroxylamine and hydrazine hydrate with compound of prepared chalcone in the presence of sodium hydroxide following table shows these compounds : symbol Name and Structure 1A O N O2N NO2 3,5 - bis(4 - nitrophenyl) - 4,5 - dihydroisoxazole 1B HN N O2N NO2 3,5 - bis(4 - nitrophenyl) - 4,5 - dihydro - 1H - pyrazole O2N NO2 N N OH 4,6 - bis(4 - nitrophenyl)pyrimidin - 2 - ol O2N NO2 4,6 - bis(4 - nitrophenyl)pyrimidine - 2 - thiol 2. A series of dinitrone compound that described by the following forms : Symbol Structure These two series identified by IR , 1H NMR and mass spectroscopic techniques.The biological activity of the prepared compound was investigated against two types of germs (Gram positive and negative) and it has found that these compound the study showed that some of these compounds effective against bacteria positive without negative , as the focus was to measure the minimum inhibitory (MIC) to them.

المستخلص: The research included synthesis ,characterization and evaluation of two new corrosion inhibitors (Bis(2 - ((2 - hydroxyethyl) thio) ethyl) terephthalate (BHET) and Bis(2 - ((6 - Mono malic acid - hydroxyl ethyl ester) sulfonyl) ethyl terephthalate (BHMET) from recycled waste polyethylene terephthalate .The best percent of the two corrosion inhibitors were reached after many experiments, which included study many factors like temperature, the equivalent weight of reactants and others. The synthesized corrosion inhibitors were characterized by FTIR and 1HNMR spectroscopy and thermal analysis . As measured for inhibitors thermal stability TGA&DTA has been found to be inhibitors stable thermally It was found that the inhibitor (Bis(2 - ((2 - hydroxyethyl) thio) ethyl) terephthalate stable up to a temperature (240) ˚C and the inhibitor Bis(2 - ((6 - Mono malic acid - hydroxyl ethyl ester) sulfanyl) ethyl terephthalate stable up to a temperature (230) ˚C This is evidence of its effectiveness within these thermal grades of industrial processes, particularly their work inhibitors corrosion.The two inhibitors were evaluated as corrosion inhibitors using hydrochloric acid as corrosion media for carbon steel alloy( carbon steel C1010) . The factors effect on the rate of corrosion like temperature , concentration of inhibitor were studied by the electrochemical technique using the Tafel plot.The obtained results at temperatures range ( 298 - 328) K and concentrations (10 - 50) ppm were used to calculate many factors that determined the efficiency of the inhibitor like : corrosion rate , corrosion current , charge transfer resistance , Anodic Tafel constant , Cathodic Tafel constant , corrosion potential and inhibitor efficiency. It was observed that the corrosion rate increases with increase of temperature and decreases with increase of the inhibitor concentration in the same temperature. The Results showed that both inhibitors had very high inhibition in reducing the corrosion rate .The inhibition efficiency reached (97.1%) for (Bis(2 - ((2 - hydroxyethyl) thio) ethyl) terephthalate for the 40 ppm at (308) k and (96.2%) for the Bis(2 - ((6 - Mono malic acid - hydroxyl ethyl ester) sulfonyl) ethyl terephthalate for the 50 ppm at (298) k.Many thermodynamics functions was calculated ,activation energy Ea , activation entropy ΔS* , activation enthalpy ΔH* and free energy ΔGads during the different experiment conditions, which was indicated of the corrosion inhibition efficiency and the type of the inhibition. The obtained results showed that the two inhibitors were very efficient to reduce the corrosion rate in the acidic media and from the ΔGads data the type of adsorption was physisorption and chemisorption. because the value of ΔGads was higher than ( - 20 KJ/mol) and less than ( - 40 KJ/mol).
