Abstract: One of the main reasons for the poor management of infrastructure projects is their complex nature, especially wastewater projects WWPs, and their reliance on traditional delivery systems in implementation, as well as a lack of acceptable techniques and methodologies to manage the delivery system, which negatively affects project performance in terms of cost, time and quality. The success of WWPs depends on select the optimal delivery system. This research aims to prepare a comprehensive management plan CMP for wastewater project delivery system using agile methodology. To achieve the aim of research, personal interviews with experts and a relevant literature review were conducted to collect the data. After that two forms of questionnaire were prepared, the questionnaire No. (1) was distributed on twenty projects under construction in the city of Alkut to determine the affecting factors on PDS selection, in addition affecting risks on PDS. While the questionnaire No. (2) was distributed to ten experts for conducting pairwise comparisons between the main factors on the one hand, and secondary factors on the other hand. The field survey was conducted using Geographic Information Systems GIS to determine the requirements of WWPs for unserved areas by develop two mathematical models using Multiple Linear Regression MLR techniques. The result analysis showed there are three main factors affecting on PDS selection such as project objective, owner requirement, and external conditions. The first main factor includes 15 sub factors, and three sub factors were selected based on relative importance index RII, they are (f3, f5, and f1) by (92.6%,90.6% and 84%) respectively. The second main factor includes sixteen sub factors, and (w1 and w3) were selected by RII (86.65% and 79.4%) respectively. The third main factor includes eight sub factors, and three sub factors were selected (m7, m2, and m1) by RII (86.9%, 82.9%, and 82.3%) respectively. These factors were adopted in design of conceptual model using AHP technique, the IV results showed that the optimal delivery system is (design-build) by highest degree of priority (Si) its (0.405) and the appropriate contract for this system is price incentive by AM (3.4). The proposed CMP was prepared using agile methodology, which consist of two main stages, planning and design stage, where the vision included identifying the requirements of WWPs, cost estimation, time estimation, and risk management plan using artificial neural networks ANN, and risk score method. While the construction stage, the vision included a set of proposed procedures to achieve roles of owner, contractor, and consultant. Thus, the proposed CMP was evaluated by a questionnaire was distributed to a group of experts, the results showed that the plan is applicable and its ability to manage the delivery system is good. Finally, the current research extracted a set of conclusions, the most important ones the optimal delivery system for WWPs is design-build. Several recommendations were suggested, the most important one is the rehabilitation and training of planners and decision-makers on recent methodologies and techniques related to mathematical models and statistical equations in the process of managing the delivery system.

Abstract: The communication management system(CMS) plays an active role in Iraqi consultant bureaus , the work of consultant bureaus characterized by a special nature which includes many barriers in the communication field such as a technical and financial barriers and the barriers that are related to communication management system efficiency (CMSE) . The purpose of this study is to asset and improve the communication management system in the engineering consultant bureaus , through the personal interviews that were conducted by the researcher with a group of engineers and consultants in the engineering consultant bureaus , has been identified a problem that is represented by high cost , time delay and weak performance due to use of traditional communication tools . A questionnaire form was prepared and distributed among fifteen(15) consultant bureaus in Iraqi Universities that represent population study , one hundred fifty (150) form were distributed and sixty eight (68) forms were received , and then analyzed statistically by statistical packages for social science (SPSS) program during the period between December /2015 till April/ 2016. The data were analyzed , the most of communication technology used in the consultant bureaus was the mobile at rate (82.35%) , and Facebook was the most social media used at rate (50%) , in addition (78%) of study sample confirmed that there were department to communication management system in the consultant bureaus , and (97%) of the study sample confirmed there are no program in the bureaus to train the engineers in the communication management system , the study refers to that the paper post is the most commonly used among consultant bureau and the top administration and the bureau and customer at rate (64.4%) , (50%) respectively . In order to evaluate and improve the communication management system , many solutions and suggestions were put to reduce the barriers that face these bureaus in the field of communication , by making communication management program(CMP) that is made by using (Visual Basic) language , through deriving a two main equations to measure the efficiency and the barriers of communication management system(CMS). III The (CMP) was verified by an evaluation questionnaire that was distributed among fifteen (15) engineers, it shows the result that all of study samples (100%) referred to the easy use of the program , and (73%) of study sample confirmed that the program discusses three issues of time , cost and performance , while the result showed half of study sample confirmed the accuracy of (CMP) to assess reality of CMS , then the analyzed result showed that (53%) of study sample shows that program is very good for both raising the performance among the staff of the C.B in the terms of importance . The program was applied to five consultant bureaus for the purpose of validation the program , and the researcher found the C.B of Al-Kufa University got a highest degree in (CMSE) and lower degree in (CMSB) , while the C.B of Diyala University got a lower degree in CMSE and higher degree in CMSB . The CMSE is increasing when reapplied the CMP and after taking in consideration the proposed tools in CMP . Finally the researcher can be rebuild the CMP by (HTML) in order to be available for all .

Abstract: A pure and without modification pumice was extensively studied (for the first time in Iraq) through batch and fixed-bed column processes to decontaminate real liquid radioactive wastes (LRWs) collected from Al-Tuwaitha nuclear site. The radiological characterization by a gamma spectroscopy with a high purity germanium detector (HPGe) showed that LRWs were contaminated with Cs-137 radionuclides. The studied parameters in batch experiments method included pH (2, 5, 7, and 10), pumice weight (0.01, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5) g (pumice)/30 mL (radioactive liquid) i.e. (0.33, 0.83, 1.66, 2.5, 3.33, 6.66, 10, 13.33, and 16.66) g/L, mixing time (2, 5, 10, 20, 30, and 60) min, mixing speed (100, 200, 300, 400, and 500) rpm, temperature (20, 30, 35, 40, and 50) ºC, and the initial concentrations of Cs-137 were (250, 842, 1326, 2424) Bq/L. The maximum removal efficiency was 91.75%, occurred at optimal conditions of pumice dose of 3.33 g/L, mixing time of 5 min, mixing speed of 100 rpm, initial Cs-137 concentration of 250 Bq/L, and temperature of 20 ˚C. At optimal conditionings, the isotherm analyses conform closer to Langmuir behavior than Freundlich isotherm. The regression factors (R2) were 0.96 and 0.91 for Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, respectively. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model was fit for the experimental adsorption data. The thermodynamic model results were ΔS˚ of -155.14 kJ/mol.K, ΔH˚ of 91.45 kJ/mol, and ΔG˚ of -201.54 kJ/mol. The studied parameters of the single-stage, fixed-bed column process are bed thickness (0.2 and 0.4) cm, influent discharge (4 and 6) mL/min, and contaminant concentration (4623.33 and 19013.33) Bq/L. The results demonstrated that the adsorption capacity was 106.47 kBq/g, which was yielded at bed depth of 0.2 cm, influent discharge of 4 mL/min, Cs-137 concentration of 19013.3 Bq/L, and temperature of 20 ˚C. The Thomas and the Clark models were suitable to represent the experimental data where correlation factors R2 were 0.95 and 0.97, respectively. Based on the nature of the suitable models in both the batch and the fixed-bed column, the adsorption process took place on monolayer, heterogeneous surfaces, endothermic nature, less disordered, randomly increased at the interface layer, and was controlled by chemical interactions with active pumice sites.

Abstract: The use of Congo red dye in the textile, is a source of pollution. In this study, the adsorption removal of walnut shell powder as a bio-adsorbent for Congo red dye was evaluated. The surface of the adsorbent was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), surface area determination (BET), and pH point of zero charge (pHpzc). Four factors affecting the dye adsorption process were studied including pH, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dose, and contact time. The optimization study was conducted using the response surface methodology (RSM) by using the Box-Behnken design (BBD). The results showed that the highest dye removal percentage was 83% with operating conditions of pH 2, an initial dye concentration of 25 mg/L, an adsorbent dose of 1 gram/100 mL, and a contact time of 90 minutes. Meanwhile, the dye removal percentage predicted by RSM was 85% with pH 2, an initial dye concentration of 31.32%, an adsorbent dose of 1 g/100 ml, and a contact time of 92.47 minutes. The Langmuir and Freundlich models were applied to the experimental data. The results of the isotherm study showed that the adsorption conforms to the Langmuir equation with a value of adsorption capacity qmax = 35.11 mg/g. The kinetics of dye adsorption on the surface of walnut shells were studied by applying the pseudo-first-order model and the pseudo-second-order model. The results showed that the adsorption follows the pseudo-second-order model with R2 = 99.9. To increase the adsorption capacity of the walnut shell powder, the surface was modified in two ways: The first one was to convert the shells to nano diameter by grinding. while the second method was to prepare the activated carbon. Both methods gave high removal rates under the worst conditions obtained when using the material in its raw form, which were 92% and 98%, respectively. This study showed that the walnut shell is an effective absorbent material. It is economical to remove Congo red dye from water contaminated with this dye.
