Abstract: This study investigates the thematic structure analysis of American and British newspaper articles on political assassinations. Throughout history, there have been several assassinations of well-known political figures. Many notable figures, including Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, and Yitzhak Rabin lost their lives, many more narrowly escaped. Understanding whether or not assassinations truly affect the development of events is crucial to comprehending assassination as a historical effect, a policy, or even a social issue. Thematic structure analysis has been studied by many researchers and looked for in different types of data, but there has been no investigation into how such themes and patterns are recognized and how they are analyzed to the best of the researcher's knowledge. The current study uses a qualitative research method supported by statistical analysis in order to analyze data collection in an attempt to fill the gaps left by previous studies. The study aims to examine theme and rheme organizations and to identify the patterns of thematic progression in the American and British newspaper articles. It also aims to identify differences and present reasons why all the articles differ along various views. The researcher has adopted an eclectic model for analyzing the research data based on Halliday's 2004 functional approach and Danes' 1974 thematic progression patterns. Twelve articles have been chosen to show different viewpoints of theme and rheme organizations. The thematic structure analysis of the study reveals that sentence elements that convey given information are consistently referred to as themes, while elements that convey new information are referred to as rhemes.

Abstract: King Arthur, whether legendary or historical, has a strong presence in Western culture. Up to this day, countless new books continue to appear retelling story. The stories about him and his Knights of the Round Table have been read and retold in all ages; the thing that kept him alive in legend, history and literature. Throughout ages, the legend fascinated readers and writers alike. In Literature prior to the twentieth century, King Arthur is depicted as a noble warrior fighting his enemies to sustain the unity of his country. On a domestic level, however, he is portrayed as naïve and too trusting. Consequently, in those works, equal emphasis is laid upon him as a deceived husband and shares the interest in the love triangle of Arthur - Guinevere - Lancelot. In the Twentieth century literature, there is an unprecedented interest in the character of King Arthur associated with various conceptions.

Abstract: One of the most important themes in twentieth century American literature is the struggle of black Americans for their human and social rights. In 1863, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln ended the slavery of blacks. But their position in American society remained very bad. In the south, especially, governmental laws were used to keep black Americans in a low social position. There was also a powerful organization called the Ku Klux Klan which often used violence against blacks. Around the turn of the century, large numbers of blacks began moving from the south to the cities of the north where the blacks’ artists and writers began their long struggle for social justice for their people.
