تعد الانفعالات من الجوانب المهمة والرئيسة لشخصية الفردالتي تنمو جنبا الى جنب مع مواقف الحياة اليومية فهي جزء لايتجزا من عملية النمو الشاملة لدى الفرد والتي يطمح من خلالها الى ابراز الشخصية السوية التي تحقق له المسار النمائي الصحيح في افكاره وارائه وسلوكي | The emotion is an important part of an individual personality. It develops with daily life situations since it is an important part of the individual comprehensive growth. The individual wants to show his/her healthy personality through emotion, the ersonality that achieves his/her healthy growth way in thoughts, opinions, behavior, and different emotions. These decide the personality characteristics and the ability to direct the thinking towards a specific target, decide the abilities level and the individual life style. Suppression is a strategy of emotional regulation that aims at diminishing or ending behavior of emotional expression both negative and positive. The literature shows that suppression loading the individual with negative effects on the psychological, mental and social aspects. The suppression may give the person feeling of release for short period but the suppression as a habit for emotional regulation destroys the health of the person in the future. Self - regulation is an individual awareness and his/her understanding of the work implementation and the ability to self - assessment regularly. According to Bandura, self - regulation is the individual ability to control his/her behavior. The individual becomes self - regulated when he/she has own thoughts concerning the suitable behavior that decides the right things to do. The present study aims at : 1. Finding out the extent of the university students emotional suppression.2. Comparing the means of the emotional suppression according to the sex and academic specification variables.3. The extent of self - regulation of university students.4. Comparing the means of the self - regulation according to the sex and academic specification variables.5. The relation of emotional suppression and self - regulation of the university students.6. The extent of contribution of the self - regulation fields in the university students' emotional suppression.In order to verify the aims of the study, the researcher constructs a self - regulation scale and adopts (Talib, 2013). The pilot study is implemented on a sample of (400) university students both humanities and scientific specifications to find out the validity and reliability of the scales.The scales are applied on a sample of (400) university students. After analyzing the data statistically, the results show that : 1. The university students have near the medium level of emotional suppression and higher than medium level of self - regulation.2. The emotional suppression concept and self - regulation concept are related in reversal relation, i.e. if the self - regulation increases, the emotional suppression decreases.3. There are no statistically significant differences in self - regulation of university students according to the sex and specification variables.According to the results different recommendations and suggestions are put forward
