Abstract:
Transient stability enhancement using Thyristor controlled brake is investigated implementing Rate Of Change Of Kinetic Energy (RACKE) braking strategy on a developed
power system small machine model .
The brake insertion and removal instants are controlled by a real time control algorithm implemented on Personal computer.
To satify the time frame of transient stability problem, the hardware and software are carefully designed, The obtained results led to successful implementation of RACKE braking strategy and improvements over other strategies.
The implementation offered the possibility of extending the work to study the possibility of an on line application of RACKE method for transient stability enhanccements
