Abstract:
This study deals with the concept of textual cohesion and its importance in the harmony of speech as a criterion of textual coherence developed by Robert de Bogrand and the discovery of the means used by this criterion in its various types in order to study how the elements are interlinked within the text. And the application of this approach to the book (the ethics of the two ministers) of Abu Hayyan Tawhidi (d 400 AH), an important heritage text belongs to the fourth century AH. The study followed the descriptive approach and applied analysis in order to study the texts of the heritage according to a modern approach and to reach the compatibility of the text of the monotheistic with this approach. This study was based on the reasons for its selection, objectives, scope, methodology and sources, as well as a preface, four chapters and a conclusionThe preface, entitled "The Textual cohesion and the Ethics of the Two ministers", dealt with a historical background on the progress of language studies and their transition from the sentence phase to the text, and then we discussed Abu Hayyan al - Tawhidi, on the aspects of his life, his death, his growing up and his most important works .The first chapter and its title (reference in the book of ethics of the two ministers) shed light on the concept of reference in theory and practice on the texts of the bookThe second chapter was titled (linking in the book of ethics of the two ministers) and dealing with the various means of linking, such as grammatical cohesion, bifurcation, the identification, which follows to show their importance in the fabrication of text and its parts.The third chapter titled (ellipsis and substitution in the book of ethics of the two ministers) showed the importance of these two topics in shortening texts, its cohesion and collideness .Then we have followed the previous three chapters with the fourth chapter which is titled (lexical cohesion in the book ethics of the two ministers), which included repetition of the types and the collaction whom we explained through the basic function that they perform within the texts of TawhidiAfter the completion of these four chapters, we concluded with a epilogue which we detected in the most important results that emerged from this study, the most important of which is the detection of the tawhidi's ability to employ the mechanisms of cohesion in its texts, with the result of cohesion and harmony formally and symbolically.
