Abstract:
Through its establishment of civilized cities and sports complexes, civilized governments aim at improving the sports reality. This has a fundamental impact on the promotion of social and economic growth and development. Attention to this is the basis for developing sports opportunities for all.,The problem of research is the suffering of most Iraqi cities from the weakness in the methodology of choosing the sites of sports events and neglect of the planning, economic and social aspects and thus not get the desired results of that location, including the location of sports cities in the regions and achieve spatial development required.The research aimed to reach a means to achieve spatial balance in the region by locating sports activities that result in other basic uses in terms of residential, industrial and commercial use. The research also targets to obtain a base of appropriate information about the effects that resulted from locating the city of Basra sports city and region the economic, social and urban development aspects the hypothesis was a positive relationship linked the spatial location of the city of sport and regional development.This study is consisted into three chapters. The first chapter deals with the importance of space and spatial distribution of events in a balanced manner. The second topic deals with the subject of regional development, which represents the desired goal, While the second chapter dealt with the concept of sports and sports cities and ways of planning those cities and presented the experiences of developed countries in this area.The third and last chapter dealt with the most important changes that took place in the city of Basra because of the locating of the sports city in terms of investment and development of infrastructure services for the city of BasraThe research concluded that the locating of the sports city was planned in the study of the master plane of the city of Basra for the period (1985 - 2000) and that the locating led to significant changes in the price of land in the area surrounding the sports city to reach huge and unreasonable heights, In the volume of investments surrounding the site significantly and through investment to different sectors and available investment projects of the appropriate development opportunities and provide employment opportunities and raise the level of income per capita and strengthen the investment map in the city.Ass.Pro.
