Abstract: Semiotics or what is called "the signs" is considered one of the significant methods and sciences used in the study of literary and religious texts. This science is not limited to a specific thing, but everything is subject to the system of the sign that is the other side of cognitive processes. If we follow the roots of this science, we will find that the Quran is the main guide. However, the West has invested this concept and codified it and put the scientific disciplines and foundations of this science. They called it "Semiotics". On the other hand, the Arabs tried to translate this term; they have multiple labels created a certain chaos to the researcher at the present time. This research found that the nomination"the Signs" is the most appropriate designation of this concept.Semiotics or "the signs"does not have a stand - alone science, only after Pearce who puts the scientific foundations and theoretical perspectives. Pearce disagreed De Saussureinhis view towards the sign. As we know that Saussure made the sign centered around the two main points (Daal "the pronounciation of the word" and Madlool "meaning"), while Pearce made the signcentered around three points(Daal "the pronounciation of the word", Madlool "meaning", and Moudhoo' "the subject") in which it has taken a generalizednaturedistinguished by a general logical sense absorbed by all the semiotic phenomena. From this point of view, this research proved that the messages of Imam Ali "PBUH" and his short sayingsare of the texts that are rich in linguistic and non - linguistic expressions due to their inclusion of the ideas and strategic visions by which Imam Ali "PBUH" wanted to eliminate the thinking of the recipient urgingthem to understand and access the messages' meanings in line with the Islamic spirit and achieve the security and safety of "AhlulBeit" towards the nation. Moreover, these texts are of the written pieces that accommodate all types, styles and practices of studying, including the modern critical studies. These messages and short sayings are a rich and inexhaustible resource. The research also proved the validity of this by extracting the examples that include all forms and types of signs and the achievement of different functional dimensions, whether commercial, cultural or communicative.
