Abstract:
This study is devoted to the isolation and identification of Acinetobacter baumannii; indeed seven isolates of A.baumannii had been isolated and identified from 100wound swabs collected from 100 patients with wound infection. The isolates obtained had been cultured in selective media and biochemicaly identified. Furthermore, the sensitivity of isolates to a variety of antibiotics had been investigated. It was found that these isolates were been sensitive to more than one antibiotic. It was found that these isolates had been resistant 100% to Ampicillin and Cloxacillin, whereas the isolates were resistant to Cefepime clavulanic acid, kanamycin and gentamycin at (71.4%). And (57.1%) of isolates showed resistance to Amikacin, and finally only (14.2%) were resistant to Azathromycin. Some virulence factors of this bacteria were studied and the results showed that all bacterial isolates 7(100%) produced (the adherence, biofilm formation, gelatinase production and siderophore),while the ability of the bacteria to produce capsule and bacteriocin were in 57.1% . Also, All isolates are unable to produce haemolysin. Extracellular protease was also investigated .It was found that 5 (71.4%) of isolates were able to produce extracellular protease. Furthermore, some virulence factors had been detected by molecular techniques as polymerase chain reaction PCR and it had been found that only 2(28%) of isolates gave positive result for cnf1 at 498bp, 4(57.1%) of them gave positive result for kps at 272bp, 2(28.5%) of them gave positive result for PAI at 930bp, 5(71.4%) of them gave positive result for ibeA at 170bp, 1(14.2%) of them gave positive result for sfa at 240bp,while, 4(57.1%) of them gave positive result for iutA at 300bp, papG gene was not found in all isolates of A. baumannii in this study
