Abstract:
The Subject of the City Skyline became an important topic in the present time in which means of communications dramatically spread and increased the importance of image and its beauty. Cities compete with each other to develop their Skylines and make them known on a global level because distinctive Skylines are signs of Economic Prosperity , Political Stability and Social Welfare and the more city focused on its urban image the more its importance and prestige is reflected positively between cities That helps to attract investments and visitors. therefore the term skylines and the factors affecting in finding a distinctive skyline must be identified so the research’s problem was the lack of clear indicators involved in forming a clear and distinctive city skyline and the research goal is to identify the active indicators which form a clear and distinctive city skyline based on a general hypothesis which is a comprehensive skylines policy depends on the relationship between Monuments from one side and floor area ratio , plot coverage and height indicators that forms the urban fabric from the other side. and to achieve the research goal the subject of skylines have been studied in detail and the factors influencing it to reach the most important indicators influencing in achieving a distinctive skyline imageand these indicators are divided into two types the first one relates to the structural standards and aesthetic indicators which include floor area ratio , plot coverage , height , rhythm , harmony, and punctuation and the second relates to the existence of Monuments where these factors interact with each other to produce distinctive unique skyline. These Indicators were used in Studying a part of the Vital Center of Baghdad City.
