Abstract:
يعد مفهوم السعادة الحقيقية من المفاهيم التي تندرج تحت علم جديد ولد مؤخرا حمل عنوان علم النفس الايجابي، اذ تظهر اهمية السعادة الحقيقية في كونها ذات تاثيرا ايجابي على حياة الناس، والوصول اليها هي تلك الغاية المنشودة التي يسعى اليها كل فرد منا، وان عملية | The concept of authentic happiness is one of the concepts that fall under the new born science titled “Positive Psychology”. The importance of authentic happiness comes from it’s being a positive influence on people's lives, and achieving it is the desired goal sought by every one of us. The process of detecting authentic happiness in students in the university depends on the nature of their basic psychological needs and their personal factors or traits. This research targeted the identification of the basic psychological needs and the big five personality factors and authentic happiness among university students, and to identify the extent of the contribution of every need of basic psychological needs and every trait of the big five personality factors in the prediction of each of the components of authentic happiness.In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher built the two scales of basic psychological needs depending on Deci and Ryan's theory, and the big five personality factors depending on Costa and Macri’s theory. The researcher also adopted the scale of Seligman and Peterson for authentic happiness which is translated to Arabic by (Muammriah 2012). The scale of basic psychological needs consisted of (24) items, distributed on three aspects. The scale of the big five personality trait consisted of five of (44) items distributed on five aspects. The scale of authentic happiness consisted of (48) items distributed on six aspects. The three scales were applied on a sample amount of (400) students from the University of Thi - Qar, Chosen according to Stratified random sampling. A verification was done to the discriminatory power of the items of the scales of basic psychological needs and the big five personality factors, and the correlation degree of each item with the overall degree for the two scales. Also the validity of the two scales were verified through the validity of content and structure, as well as conducting validity and reliability of the Saljman and Patterson’s scale. The researcher and check the stability of the three scales factors using the test and retest and alpha Cronbach's equation.The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences SPSS and the results showed : That college students have satisfied the basic psychological needs and have the attributes of big five personality factors and feel authentic happiness. The existence of a positive indicative correlation between the psychological needs function and of the big five personality factors and authentic happiness. There's a gathering of four predictors : the competence need, factors of neuroticism, extraversion, and openness to experience interpreted (21%) of the first component (wisdom and knowledge) for authentic happiness. There’s a gathering of five predictors : the competence need and the need relatedness, and factors of neuroticism, tolerance, and the Conscientiousness, interpreted (24.5%) of the second component (courage) to authentic happiness. There's a gathering of four predictors : the competence need and the need relatedness, and Agreeableness and openness to experience interpreted (15%) of the third component (love and humanity) for authentic happiness. There's a gathering of four predictors : the competence need, factors of neuroticism, openness to experience, and Agreeableness interpreted (14.5%) from the fourth component (justice) for authentic happiness. There is a gathering of six predictors : the competence need, and the need relatedness, and factors of neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, and the Conscientiousness interpreted (14%) of the fifth component (moderation) for authentic happiness. A gathering of five predictors : the competence need, factors neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, Agreeableness, interpreted (19.8%) of the sixth component (transcendence and spirituality) for authentic happiness, and in light of the results of the research the researcher provided some recommendations and proposals
