Abstract: Language is the tool for expressing and understanding in the societies. By the language, we can express about our needs and our desires and can show others our feelings and our senses. Language is the basic element in society and we can consider it as the active tool for developing and growing the society.At any period of the time, the language is the clear mirror of society which reflects the life of this society. The 20th century had the distinguished action on in linguistic and structural fields, and it considers on these studies to produce the different methods. The grammarians' studies took two different attitudes in the grammar field, include : The traditional attitude and the modern one ( deals with grammar in English methods).It is clear, the researchers had the different situations towards this matter. A number of them depended on ancient inherited and neglected one. And another party of them saw that the Arabic grammar should have modern view.We should mention that the material of research in located on the reported descriptive system for the linguistic phenomena.This thesis includes four chapters and conclusion.Chapter one, includes the establishing and completing period, reasons for establishment of grammar, its history and its developments and grammatical schools.Chapter two deals with the linguistic methods and their impact in building the Arabic grammar (comparative historical methods)These methods show the ways in Arabic grammatical studies and clarify the development of the studies which consider on its base, then offers the same answers for solving the problems which relate with parsing, sentence and its references with times, the descriptive methods and its position from the problems and components.This chapter show many sides of Chomsky's theory, its stages and the transformational rules which used for transforming the sentences, also it deals with function according to Prague school and functional attitudes which have offered by Firth.The third chapter offers the restrictions in grammar : parts of speech which presented the dispute point among the classical and modern grammarians.The fourth chapter deals with sides of Arabic application attempts which aim to describe the Arabic grammar on transformational grammar rules.The conclusion includes the important results for the research
