Abstract: A new chelating terpolymer resins were synthesized copolymerization of : 1 - o - Amino benzoic acid (o - AB) , Biuret (B) , Formaldehyde (F) terpolymer (o - ABBF)2 - p - Amino benzoic acid (p - AB) , Biuret (B) , Formaldehyde (F) terpolymer (p - ABBF)3 - o - Hydroxy benzoic acid (o - HB) , Biuret (B) , Formaldehyde (F) terpolymer (o - HBBF)4 - p - Hydroxy benzoic acid (p - HB) , Biuret (B) , Formaldehyde (F) terpolymer (p - HBBF)In 1 : 1 : 3 mole ratio using hydrochloric acid as a reaction medium by condensation technique. The synthesized copolymer resins were characterized by elemental analysis , FT - IR , 1H - NMR , uv - vis.The terpolymer resins were also characterized by viscometric measurements in di methyl sulphoxide (DMSO).The physico - chemical and spectral methods were used to elucidate the structures of resins .The morphology of terpolymers were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showing amorphous nature of the resins therefore can be used as a selective chelation terpolymer for certain metals.Thermal stability of the terpolymers were investigated by using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).The chelating efficiency of the prepared resins towards several selected metal ions namely,Cu+2,Ni+2 Co+2,Zn+2,Cd+2,Cr+3was studied using batch equilibrium method .The effect of several factors on the chelating efficiency was studied : 1 - The effect of PH2 - The effect of treatment time
