Abstract: يسعى تخطيط الطاقة الانتاجية الى توفير مدخل يساعد في تحديد مستوى الطاقة الكلي لموارد الشركة التي تشمل كلا من التسهيلات والمعدات والعمل الذي بالتالي سيساعد في دعم الاستراتيجية التنافسية للشركة في الامد البعيد. ان التخطيط السليم للطاقة الانتاجية يساهم في تل | The objective of capacity planning is to provide an approach to help the operations manager in determining the overall capacity level of the production system to support the company's production plans and to achieve its competitive priorities in the short and long runs. The proper planning of capacity is a crucial factor in satisfying the demand on the company's products or services, and in identifying the proper mix of the company's resources needed to satisfy its customers and maintain the company's market share. This research work deals with the problem of capacity planning at Babyl 1 Factory, at the State General Company for Batteries Manufacturing. Through field observations, interviews, and the Factory's records, the searcher realized that the production level of the factory has decreased significantly compared to the production levels achieved in the previous years. In addition, the searcher noticed that capacity levels of the production departments reflect great variations. Therefore the searcher decided to study and analyze this problem to reach practical solutions to help the company better planning capacity. A case study approach was adopted in studying, analyzing, and data presentation in this research. The searcher used a number of tools such as : descriptive statistics in gathering and presenting and analyzing the data which pertains to this problem, Microsoft Excel in designing and running the simulation model designed by the searcher, Visual Basic in designing the Computerized Capacity Options Model ( CCOM ). The results of this research confirmed the existence of a capacity problem at the factory which lead to accumulated effects of capacity variation between the departments at the factory, In addition the simulation results revealed the running the factory for two shifts could increase the production up to 77 units a day. Although this figure is not typical of the factory, however it shows that the capacity could be increased if real action is taken to solve the capacity problem at the factor. The searcher recommends the used of simulation in studying and analyzing the capacity problem at the factory to reduce the capacity gaps between departments and to increase the daily production rate.
