Abstract:
The present study included comparative anatomical study for 10 cultivated species of the family Compositae collected from public gardens for different region of Baghdad city, these species are : 1 - Aster amellus L. )استر(2 - Cosmos sulphureus Cav. )كوزموز(3 - Dahlia variabilis Willd. )داليا(4 - Gaillardia pulchella Foug. )عنبر كشمير(5 - Gazania splendens Hork. )ك ا زنيا(6 - Gerbera jamesonii Hook. )جربي را(7 - Helichrysum bracteatum Vent. )ورد الكاغد(8 - Tagetes erecta L.)جعفري(9 - Tagetes patula L.)قديفة(10 - Zinnia elegans Jacq. )زينيا(The study dealt with some anatomical characters and study are Compared for the first time to these species in Iraq. The study included the features of ordinary epidermal cells leaves stems, and involucre bracts, and also stomatal complexes, Actinocytic type was recorded as new founding in the species Aster amellus. The study included cross sections of the roots and also exposed the constituent tissues of it and the varies in the thickness of epidermis cortex, vascular cambium as well as the arrangement of phloem which have an important role in the studies species.studying of cross sections of stems showed important taxonomic characters like thickness of epidermis, presence or absence of collenchymatypes and rows number, characteristic of the vascular bundles in terms of forms and numbers, therefor the species were divided into groups. The vascular cylinder characters also gives prominent anatomical characters importance in terms of being continuation or intermittent. The study of vertical section of leaf showed important anatomical characteristic like thickness of upper and lower epidermis thickness of palaside and spongy layer, layers number and from of vascular bundles. The venation system of was investigated and compared between species. The study included characteristic of cross sections of petiole in terms of thickness of cuticle, epidermis and collenchyma number and forms of vascular bundles. The vertical sections of involucre bracts also studied.Indumentum of different parts of plant (leaves, stems, bracts and fruit) are also studied in details, glandular hairs and eglandular hairs where studied in terms of cells number, lengths, apexes and bases forms and other characters in addition to papillae which occur in some species. Petals venation were investigated and compare between species. The study also resulted in the presence of internal secretory structures, the study showed the locations of these structures, dimensions and the method of formation to these structures which gave an important anatomical character. The study showed the presence of crystal, which differ in the, forms and sizes which contributed to the isolation of species it was the first time note sphaerocrystals (Inulin crystal) in tuberous root cortex of Dahlia variabilis the prismatic crystals of the type styloid in root cortex of Gerbera jamesonii. The study showed results and characters and these were presented for the first time. Investigation include field photographs of studied species and plates of sections which studied in different plant parts in addition to many tables.
