Abstract: To be an active part in the system of his age, the human being should be aware of the changed cultural signs of his age,. He also should be able to understand the cultural novelties especially in the fields of literature and art. Art education teacher, to be an active element in the cultural change and aware of the importance of renewal and updating in the field of culture, he should be able to analyses the appearances of culture in his age and to be distinguishing in his ability as a critic of his age culture to reveal the defected points that lead culture to be one of the employed means in controlling, hegemony dictatorship and refusal the others, Instead looking for the factors that make culture an active element in the positive change and in the progress of mankind and promotionof humane values.According to all these data, a question is asked : How could the art education teacher be active in achieving educational aims for the philosophy of modern education that looks at life a modern look which takes in the account all cultural and technical change and dealing with new concepts that characterized with their ability to change rapidly and to develop continuously.This could not be achieved except through a completed program of professional formation for the art education teacher in which he may comprehend and understand the goals that should be set to be suitable to the revolutionary start for the thought of Modernism and Post - Modernism and the process of intellectual transformation with the beginning of the new century, and its future challenges that look at the culturing means and Acculturation as a synonym for education and teaching.The process of revealing the function of cultural criticism, especially in the field of art education may form an important point in the way of understanding the role played by culture in forming building and developing the societies Via education in general and art education in particular. Consequently revealing the function of cultural criticism in developing the program of professional formation for the art education teacher opens to us active prospects and pillars through which we may develop programs for preparing andtraining for teaching profession in the field of art education as suitable to continuous developments in our current age and the prospects of transformation and renewal.Under the circumstances of information explosion and deliberated explosion of culture and knowledge in all their forms, the importance of cultural criticism comes to analyses and criticize historical and social roots and what accompanies them of political and moral ramification produced by artistic works, event, and ideological practices and organizations. Thus, preparing an art education teacher for teachingprofession requires a special and methodological preparing including a program prepared to develop a group of cognitive, cultural and practical skills which suitable to development of age and the necessity required by the rapid changes of new world.Basically, the task of art education teacher is a culturing and teaching task, thus his connection with his society culture and value system and moral consideration, which in whole forming a distinguishing identity for the society, is a close connection.Starting from a modern vision in the process of developing a program to prepare and qualify the art education teacher through the role played by cultural criticism in developing a program of professional formation for art education teacher, the problem of research may be determined by the following question : What is the function of cultural criticism and its role in developing program of professional formation for the art education teacher?The research endeavored to achieve two goals : 1 - Defining the function of cultural criticism in developing a program of professional formation for the art education teacher and identifying the basic pillars that my by relied in preparing teacher for the task of art education teaching. 2 - Building a suggested program of professional formation for art education teacher. To achieve the research goals, the research was divided into five chapters, the first chapter included an introduction and a definition of the problem of research and its importanceand goals. The second chapter dealt with the theory of culture and the references of cultural criticism in an attempt to reach the conceptualization of the term "Cultural Criticism" in addition to that, the chapter endeavored to define the linguistically andterminological significances of culture concept and to study the stages of growth and development of cultural theory and the most striking trends, and to took at the conceptual system to each of culture and criticism, then look at intellectual considerations and references that led to the appearance of the term "Cultural Criticism". The third chapter dealt with the relationship of cultural criticism with art education and the relationship of culture with education, the concepts of change and development art education teacher ,and Post - Modernism Culture, then moving to define the most outstanding contemporary treads in forming and preparing the art education teacher, to define the new roles of art education teacher and the concept of quality in teaching. The fourth chapter overviewed the methodology of research and its procedures and steps to prepare the suggested professional program for the art education teacher. The fifth chapter represented the conclusion of research. It also dealt with the reality of the professional formation program for the art education teacher, then it set a suggested model of professional formation program for the art professional formation program for the art education teacher, with a group of recommendations.
