Abstract: Propaganda nowadays takes a significant role in the world of Politics. It takes many forms and each one has a goal. This study sheds light upon the Iraqi parliamentary election 2021. The candidates intend to show their campaigns in the best way. So the current study seeks to investigate the pragmatic and semiotic aspects that are implemented in the Iraqi parliamentary election propaganda in 2021 and how the candidate deals with the structure or the composition of such electoral campaign. The language of manipulation also takes a significant part in convincing the voters in order to vote to the candidate. It is shown that the candidates try to utilise their propaganda in a unique way so as to persuade the voters by using certain words and images. Such words and images (signs) have a pragmatic and semiotic interpretation in linguistics. Therefore, this study explores the pragmatic aspects as well as the semiotic ones that are utilised in the Iraqi parliamentary election propaganda. The study aims to investigate implicature and presupposition pragmatically and to identify the semiotic meaning of those signs or words implemented in their propaganda. The researcher has adopted a qualitative method of investigation for analyzing data. An eclectic model has been chosen for data analysis based on theory of implicature (1975) for Grice, the theory of presupposition (1996) for Yule, and the theory of semiotics (1968) for Barthes. Ten electoral photos have been chosen that show various views .The study finds in the pragmatic analysis that the candidates use pragmatic aspects such as conversational implicature and certain types of presuppositions in their electoral propaganda. In the semiotic analysis, this study reveals that the electoral propaganda has two levels of signification: denotation which states a superficial implemented meaning and connotation which needs a deep understanding.
