Abstract: MAGISTRACY IN THE THOUGHT OF IMAM ALI (AS)Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings be upon the master of the messengers and his purified progeny and companions .Magistracy or assuming power has been one of the topics that attracted the attention of man throughout ages and it has been the focus of his thought and most engaging concern because of what this issue has been characterizedwith as regards its being the source of the misery or welfar and happiness of the society ; hence it has been realistic and a living matter or affair which is inevitable and unavoidable. Chapter two is entitled "manifestations of the magistrate" in which the researcher dealt with, in a critical study, important issues in the Islamic history such as allegiance in addition to practicing the magistrate by Imam Ali(AS) and those who preceded him as well as those who came after him.Chapter three carries the title ' patterns of conformity and differences" in which the researcher dealt with the extent of the conformity of the magistrate practices with the Islamic revivalistic constructive project within the historical, patrimonial and juristic patterns of Imam Ali (AS) and other rulers.A conclusion has been annexed to the research in which most of the findings and general and specific outlines have been included in addition to a comprehensive bibliography of sources and references. The conclusion of our prayer will be : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!
