Abstract:
This study is concerned witht cohesion and coherence in the Koran in which a story of Moses is selected as a model for analysis .This work studies the theory text .It also tackles the development of this theory in which it consider as the final stage of linguistics .Several scholars tackle this this theory such as De Bougrand , Halliday and Hassan , Van Dijk , Afeefei and Khadab .The ancient Arabic Scholars paid heed to this theory .It can be noticed when this theory is traced in Arabic culture . It can be evidently appears in their works .The study also tackles the notions of cohesion and coherence( definitions ,principles , approaches and aims ). Figuring out the coherence and the cohesion elements in the text of Koran , specifically in the story of Mose. The study reveals a new interpretation to the story of Mose in accordance with the concepts of cohesion and coherence in which it can be accepted .The study consists of three chapters . First chapter is intended to present the outline of the study. It, in consequence, will introduce the problem around which the study revolves, the main objectives of the study, its hypotheses, the procedures followed to fulfill its objectives, in addition to the limitations this study will abide by and finally its significance.Chapter Two deals with the theoretical aspects related to the cohesion .it also pinpoints them in the data under the study .Chapter Three sheds light on the theoretical aspects related to the coherence . it reveals them in the data under the study . Several results are displayed through the discussion of the findings .Finally, conclusions are drawn and further studies are suggested in the same variety.
