Abstract:
A descriptive study cross - sectional design was conducted throughout the period of June 16th 2016 to October 20th 2017 in order to study of Psychosocial Aspects of epileptic patient attending the Middle Euphrates Neurological Sciences Center in AL - Najaf AL - Ashraf Province. A Purposive sample of (100) subjects were selected throughout the use of non - probability sampling approach, that include patients who were diagnosed with epilepsy attending the Middle Euphrates Neurological Sciences Center in AL - Najaf AL - Ashraf Province.A questionnaire was constructed to achieve the objectives of the present study, comprised of five domains including (38) items. Data was collected from patients who attending for treatment at middle Euphrates Center in AL - Najaf AL - Ashraf Province. Through the use of interview technique, each patient individually interviewed, taking a corresponded period of between (15 - 20) minutes. The questionnaire was clear and adequate for the measurement of the phenomenon except some adjustment and change are made on few items according to the expert's suggestions.Reliability of the questionnaire was determined through pilot study and the validity was achieved through a panel of (17) experts. Data were analyzed through the use of the statistical package of social sciences (SPSS) version 22. Reliability was concerned with the consistency and dependability of the research instrument. Determination of internal consistency, reliability of the questionnaire is based on computation of Alpha Cronbachs Correlation coefficient.Abstract IIIThe findings of the present study indicated that the overall domains affected on patients with epilepsy in psychosocial domain were highly social isolation.The study concludes that sample mostly were males, young adults, married and illustrates type of epilepsy was an idiopathic, regarding to number of fits before treatment were more, Social isolation as one of the psychosocial aspects had severs effect on quality of life, also There was a significant relationship between the overall patient psychosocial aspects and occupation prior to disease. No significant relationship was found between the overall patient psychosocial aspects and the family and social support.The study recommends that recommends Patients with epilepsy need to be reassured about the attack, and the overall disease outcome. In regard to Ministry of health can help patients and families in providing medications and ensure its continuity. the family must be It's better to provide the patients with an identification card clarify some information about the particular patient.
