Non - tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) considered mostly as colonizers or ignored as environmental contaminants in the past, are now increasingly recognized as important pulmonary pathogens in both immunocompromised and immunocompetent population. Globally, an increase in NTM infections has been reported from many countries around the world.
