Abstract:
This Dissertation , entitled ( The Other in Immigration Poetry : A Study in the Light of Cultural Criticism ) , deals with the theme of " The types , Ways of its construction , how far do culture , religious and literary authorities impact its construction. It tries to discover the cultural patterns involved in the aesthetic aspects that contributed in the deterioration of the image of " The Other " , and made the poetic discourse suffer from contradiction , where it shows all that is beautiful and human , but it conceals too much ugliness and non - human intentions.This dissertation uncovers that immigration poets are interested in the aesthetic aspects rather than human aspects. Moreover , it shows how critics contributed in justifying and beautifying this discourse in such an exaggerate way.It falls into three chapters preceded by an introduction and followed by conclusions. Chapter one falls into three sections ;section one deals with the term of " The Other " linguistically and terminologically as well as the impact of the Arabic and Western cultures and religion on its formation ; section two dealt with the image of cultural criticism , its nature , its relation with other approaches and its merits and demerits ; section three was about the cultural authorities of immigration poetry and their role in forming the image of " The Other ".Chapter two is entitled The Recombinant Other. It falls into five sections , the first of which dealt with The National other , the second dealt with The Divine Other , the third introduced The Woman as being considered The Other , the fourth tackled Nature , the fifth is devoted to the transformations of The Recombinant.Chapter Three is entitled " The Different Other ". It is divided into five sections , section one dealt with The National other , section two talked about The Different other in color and religion , section three sheds light on The Invisible other , section four is devoted to The Defiled Other , the fifth section studied the transformations of The Different.In the conclusion we stated the most important results that we reached at. Finally the researcher does not claim having done a thorough study that deals with everything about the topic ; it's a mere try to study the topic.
