Abstract: Radix layer defined as the bottom fifth of the convective mixed layer as a whole region between the Uniform Layer and the surface which include the surface layer. wind speed increased logarithmically with height in this layer until reaches the top of the radix Layer ZRM Using Radiosond data of wind speed for the upper atmosphere at 12 : 00 GMT for height more than 2000m for the year 1987 , Wind profile showed that Z where ( ???????????????? ????????????????=????????) this called the uniform layer in which wind speed become uniform with height due to the strong mixing in this region . RM differs from run to run and it is in the range of (300400)m while wind speed within the UL is about (3 - 10)m/s with more frequently in the range of (6 - 8)m/s . ZRM estimated theoretically using an empirical equation depending on surface layer scales and mixed layer scales (u* , w* , Zi) , the empirical constants estimated using nonlinear exponential regression. Relationship between ZRM and Obukhov length estimated and found that ZRM depend on Zi more than L and there is a relationship between ZRM/Zi and the stability parameter - ZiSimilarity equations used before and after applying the effect of both meteorological characteristics and surface properties and the empirical constants estimated using the nonlinear exponential regression and found to be universal for Baghdad city , where a=0.156 ,A= 0.21 and D= 0.87 . Similarities equations also written in terms of ????????∗; which represents ???????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????? ; depending on the parameters used to calculate the depth of Radix layer ZRMcal Finally the WPL applied after estimating the constant p then wind profiles plotted . It has been found that WPL applied only at height not more than 200m comparing with profiles plotted according to the Radix Layer similarities equations which showed a good approximation with the observed wind profiles.
