Abstract:
الخبث هو الرغبة في ارتكاب عمل غير مشروع وايذاء الاخرين من دون عذر منطقي، وقد يتسبب هذا الامر بضرر جسدي او نفسي او اقتصادي للاخرين، اما بدافع عدواني، واما بسبب لؤم راسخ.ليليان فلورنس هيلمان (1905 - 1984) كانت ناشطة على الساحة السياسية. افضل ما يعرف عن مسرحيات هيلمان هو تناولها للقضايا الاجتماعية والنفسية. تستكشف في مسرحياتها الطمع وقدرة الانسان على الخبث، وتتضمن مسرحياتها الصراع بين المصالح الفردية والضمير الاجتماعي. كذلك تتناول الكاتبة طبيعة الشر والانحلال الاخلاقي في المجتمع الاميركي. وتصور مسرحياتها ايضا العلاقات المعقدة داخل الاسر.تقع الدراسة في اربعة فصول وخاتمة. الفصل الاول : تمهيدي وهو مقسم على عدة اجزاء تتعامل مع الجوانب المختلفة للخبث، والخلفية السياسية، الاجتماعية، والاقتصادية للمجتمع الاميركي الحديث. ويتضمن كذلك حياة هيلمان واعمالها. اما الفصل الثاني؛ فيتناول مسرحية هيلمان الثعالب الصغار (1939) وهو يتفحص الصراعات المالية والنفسية داخل عائلة جنوبية، حيث يبرز الجشع بين الاخوة الذين يخدعون بعضهم بعضا للمشاركة في معمل للقطن، وهي استراتيجية تربحهم الكثير من المال. يناقش الفصل الثالث مسرحية هيلمان (جزء اخر من الغابة) (1946) وهذه المسرحية هي بمنزلة تمهيد لمسرحية (الثعالب الصغار)؛ اذ انها تعرض الاسرة نفسها لكن في مرحلة مبكرة. المسرحية تروي قصة الزعيم الجشع ماركوس هوبارد الذي جمع ثروته خلال الحرب الاهلية عن طريق الابتزاز. يستعرض الفصل الرابع مسرحية هيلمان (دمى في العلية) (1960) وتركز المسرحية على كاري بيرنيرز وليلي براين اللتين تتصرفان بطريقة خبيثة حيث تحاولان السيطرة على حياة جوليان.تلخص الخاتمة النتائج التي توصلت لها الرسالة | Malice means the desire to commit an unlawful act and harm others without a legitimate excuse. It includes the deliberate infliction of physical, psychological, and economic damage on other people either because of a hostile motive or out of cruelty.Lillian Florence Hellman (1905 - 1984) was a political activist. Her plays are best known for examining social and psychological concerns. They explore human greed, malice, and the opposition between individual interests and social conscience. She examines the nature of evil and moral deterioration in American society. Her plays also portray the complex relationships within families. The study is divided into four chapters and a conclusion. Chapter One is an introduction which is divided into sections that deal with different perspectives of malice, the economic, social and literary background of modern American society. It also comprises Hellman's life and works. Chapter Two tackles Hellman's play The Little Foxes (1939). It examines the financial and psychological conflict within a wealthy greedy Southern family. The Hubbard siblings viciously scheme each other to participate in a cotton mill, a strategy that would make them rich. Chapter Three discusses Hellman's play Another Part of the Forest (1946). It is a prologue to her previous play The Little Foxes. It displays the same family at an early stage. It tells the story of the greedy patriarch Marcus Hubbard who made his fortune using illegal methods during the Civil War.Chapter Four explores Toys in the Attic (1960). The play focuses on Carrie Berniers and Lily Prine who act in a malicious way trying to dominate Julian’s life.The Conclusion sums up the findings of the study
