Abstract: n this research focusing was to identification of source areas of dust storms in Iraq and neighboring countries through factor analysis of data aerosols (Aerosols Index) measured by the Total Ozone Monitoring Spectrometer (TOMS) , through the analysis of monthly averages for the aerosols index for the year 1992 as a model for the rest of the years in this study, and analysis of annual rates of factor aerosols to a period of twenty years from 1981 to 2000 except 1994 and 1995 for lack of data, which painted the annual rates of factor aerosol as a function of longitude and latitude and also charted as a function of longitude and each of latitude, also to use some case studies of severe dust storms that occurred in Iraq through the analysis of the daily values of the aerosols index as a function of longitude and latitude . This research also cares with reasons that lead to generate dust storm and type of these storms . It was found that high values of the aerosols index are correlated with the synoptic weather factors help of dust storms, and areas were determined sources of dust storms in Iraq in the northern region of the western plateau, reaching maximum values of aerosols index in that region, also There are source areas of of dust storms in southern Iraq extended to the Iraqi border, with the Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, this region is considered to be the extension of the Rub Al Khali
