شهدت اواخر القرن العشرين قفزات تكنولوجية هائلة في مجال وسائل الاتصال والمعلومات ولاشك ان احدثها واهمها ظهور شبكة الانترنت وانتشارها، ومع اهمية شبكة الانترنت وفوائدها الهائلة والمتعددة في مجالات الحياة المختلفة، الا ان الكثير من المستخدمين ينبهرون بها وب | The last years of the twentieth century had witnessed great technological jumps in the field communication and information technology. Undoubtedly, internet network is the newest and most widely spread among all. In spite of its being most important and offering great services in the different fields of life, internet entices users to spend long hours surfing the websites in an abusive way which negatively impacts them. One of the problems that man suffers from nowadays is the existential frustration which is resulted from feelings of emptiness, boredom and uselessness that hit the man in the different aspects of life. The muchness of psychological pressures, crises that struck the man and the dullness of the environment that surrounds him have the greatest impact on man to live a life that is free of meaning and values. The problem of the study is summarized in the answer to the following question : Is there any relationship between internet addiction and existential frustration in adults? The study gains its importance from the variables of internet addiction and existential frustration, the target sample of adults which makes a large population of the society. The importance also comes from finding the relationship between the two variables; where internet addiction might not be a separate disorder but a result of the individual's suffering of frustration. The study aims at knowing the following : 1. The level of internet addiction in a sample of adults. 2. The level of existential frustration in a sample of adults.3. The differences in the level of internet addiction in adults according to the variables of (social type, professional status and age)4. The differences in the level of existential frustration in adults according to the variables of (social type, professional status and age)5. The relationship between internet addiction and existential frustration in a sample of adults.The sample of the study included adults who are officially employed in the governmental institutes of education, higher education, health as well as those who are unemployed but officially registered in the social welfare institutes in Almuthana governorate in the year (2016). The number of the research sample is (400) adults who were chosen in a stratified random way. In order to achieve the goals of the research, the researcher built two scales to measure internet addiction and existential frustration whose items were chosen by reviewing literature and previous studies. The procedure of building the items was done practically, starting with assigning the fields, conducting reliability and validity and analysis of the items. After collecting the data and having it statistically analyzed by means of using SPSS Data Analysis Software, the researcher reached at the following results : 1. The research sample does not suffer from internet addiction.2. The research sample suffers from existential frustration.3. The unemployed use the internet more than the employed.4. Adults between 21 - 39 use the internet more than others.5. The unemployed between 21 - 39 use the internet more than others.6. There are no statistically significant differences between males and females in using the internet.7. There are no statistically significant differences in existential frustration according to the variables of (social type, professional status and age).8. There exists a weak correlation between internet addiction and existential frustration. In the light of these results, the researcher has come up with the following recommendations : 1. The ministries of the government should hold seminars and workshops for their employees to warn them of the dangers of internet addiction. There should be coordination with the ministry of higher education to provide specialized lecturers in psychological health and psychological therapy. 2. Eradicating unemployment by finding suitable job opportunities for youths to secure them from its dangers, such as frustration. The researcher suggested the following two future studies and researches : 1. Conducting a study about the pressures of life and its relation with internet addiction.2. Conducting a study about future thoughts and its relation with existential frustration.
