Abstract: The study aims at identifying ((the effect of using educational illustrative figures in memorizing and keeping of poetic texts as to the primary 5th grade pupils)), and according to the following two hypotheses : 1 - There is no difference of statistical significance at the level of (0, 05) between the scores of the pupils who have been taught by using educational illustrative figures and those who learned by traditional methods in memorizing poetic texts. 2 - There is no difference of statistical significance at the level of (0, 05) between the scores of the pupils who have been taught by using educational illustrative figures and those who have learned by traditional methods in memorizing poetic texts. The researcher has intentionally selected al - Ghafiqi Primary school for boys\Dayala Education Doctorate - Maqdadya Education Department. The school includes two 5th grade classes (A and B) for the scholastic year 2013 - 2014.Class (A) has been randomly selected to represent the pilot group where pupils are exposed to independent variant, i.e. the group is to study by the use of illustrative figures. Class (B), on the other hand, shall learn by poetic texts by the use of traditional methods. The number of pupils in both classes is (71) : (36) in class (A) and (35) in class (B). The researcher has excluded pupils who failed in the particular topic, thus, the number becomes (61) in both classes. He has also statistically assessed both groups by testing the two independent groups (the educational qualifications of the parents). After marking the scientific material by six topics during his experiment, the researcher has set the behavioral and educational patterns and submitted to a group of specialists and experts. In the light of their viewpoints and suggestions, required amendments have been conducted and goals and educational plans became applicable. For the purpose of memorizing poetic texts by the two groups under study, the researcher has set a test of (30) questions (multiple, completion, joining). He, later on, submitted the results to a group of experts and specialists to approve their authenticity, their difficulty factors, their discriminatory power, and their calculation of stability. The method has been applied on a quiz sample of about (100) pupils. Results have been analyzed and statistically dealt with where test items were found applicable. The researcher has also adopted the two tests of keeping and memorizing on the pupils of the (experimental and standard) groups before ending the experiment which lasted for a whole semester. After analyzing the results and statistically dealing with them by using the test of the two independent samples in order to identify the difference between the two groups (experimental and standard) , the results showed the following : - there is a significant difference the average scores (keeping and memorizing) between the two groups under study for the sake of the experimental group which studied poetic texts by using illustrative figures. 1 - In the light of the results, the use of illustrative figures eases learning to 5th grade pupils as to poetic texts and increases memorizing and keeping them. 2 - It also has a great influence over pupils, a matter which gave them pleasure and excitement in better memorizing poetic texts, where the topic is more effective and less forgettable. The researcher has concluded to the necessity to adopt illustrative figures in teaching poetic texts. He also recommended the following : 1 - Paying a considerable attention to the use of illustrative figures in memorizing poetic texts in the primary schools. 2 - Motivating and urging teachers to use illustrative figures.
